        We so wanted to love this place. First several day stop on a couple of week visit to New Zealand. They could not get hot water to our two suites for three days...no hot water for three days. Lucas attempted to help us, but that did not work out too well. He's a fine young gent but he needs maintenance to follow through and apparently that was an impossibility over the holiday season. Hotels should have hot water...

        Staff were very attentive and friendly, rooms were great and immaculately clean and tidy. We used the pool and in the morning which was lovely. Overall the perfect place for a special weekend away.

        Great location on the viaduct. Customer service with staff is amazing. Hotel food was good. Rooms are decent size. Only thing is they need more gluten free options for in room service menu and you can't control the temperature. Anja and the reservation team are great.

        The impeccable service provided by the staff made our stay exceptional, and the hotel's location was also very convenient. However, we felt that the hotel had more of a business-like atmosphere than the luxurious modern brand it claims to be. The lounge was open, and the available options were very good. Overall, we highly recommend this hotel.

        We booked this hotel for two nights as the beginning portion of our honeymoon. Having stayed at many 5 star hotels before, we had high expectations. It all started off a bit wrong when we were told they could not accommodate an early check-in as they were “too busy” cleaning all the rooms, but that they had a “guaranteed” check in at 3 pm. We went for a walk around the viaduct for a couple of hours to burn some time and came back around 2:45pm, just to be told our room was still not ready. In fact, it was over an hour past that “guaranteed” check in time before we finally got our keys. On top of that, we were only able to take one hot shower the entire 48 hours we were there. We were told every time we called that a manager would come to our room and address the problem, but that never happened. The second night after taking cold showers and going to bed, we received a call at 11pm (after we had already fallen asleep) from the “manager” trying to amend the issue. The beds are sunken in the middle and should be replaced. There are no temperature controls in the room, so it smells like musty old motel rooms if the balcony doors aren’t left open all day. We would not recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a luxury stay, and will no longer be booking with the Sofitel brand. We were told we would be receiving a discount for all of our issues, but have received no such credit nor any communication from management.
