Cannot say enough good things, from the check-in process to the room service to the daily interactions with staff who are so warm and helpful. The hotel itself is beautiful (and very clean) from the walk into the lobby to the rooms themselves. It’s a traditional Japanese guesthouse with no shoes allowed in the hotel, and the whole place is very peaceful and tranquil. It is in a quieter part of town after 7pm (but before then, bustling with many cute little shops and eateries) so the streets are relatively empty at night but Kyoto is very safe and the neighborhood is beautiful. Will be back next time we’re in Kyoto.

I loved this hotel and all the people running it. Hotel Sowaka was stunning from the moment we arrived at the entrance to when we left. This hotel is the perfect mix of modern and traditional, fusing both seamlessly to feel natural and upscale. I loved coming back to the hotel and taking my shoes off and hearing traditional Japanese music playing from the lounge area. I loved how romantically lit the hotel was that gave it this air of sophistication and peace. The whole experience was incredible and one that I will be doing again next time I am in Kyoto. On top of that, in your rooms every day you are treated to some high quality tea and snacks, and sometimes local art thats representative of Kyoto artists. It was honestly so cute, and I will be framing my little art piece as a wonderful memory of this place. Lastly, I would be remiss if I did not mention the staff. They were all so lovely, professional, kind, and patient. When my partner and I checked in, we were greeted kindly and professionally, and given a small tour of the location. Later in our stay, we ended up spending a good chunk of time at the bar hanging out with the most wonderful bartender and person -- Arisa. She made some incredible cocktails and was really lovely to chat with. Overall, this was such a wonderful time. I felt really pampered and when I left, I felt energized and rested. Hotel SOWAKA is truly worth it, and is genuinely such a wonderful time. I highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in staying at a gorgeous ryokan-esque hotel.

We really enjoyed our stay at Sowaka! First, the hotel is located in a very walkable area of Kyoto. The interior of the hotel is so peaceful and beautiful. We also appreciated the service we received: from a decorated tea room as soon as we arrived, a guided tour to Kiyomizu-dera, and the help we received in reserving a comfortable taxi ride from the hotel to Osaka. All of the staff were quick to make sure we enjoyed our stay. The food at La Bombance was also very tasty!

A hidden gem boutique hotel in Kyoto, a short walk away from the hustle and bustle of tourist spots, one can chill and relax away in this relaxing environment. Tastefully designed with a hint of zen element. Room is spacious, with the essential amenities available. The room with a “bamboo garden” as backdrop is mesmerising. A top choice as a boutique hotel in Kyoto!

Best hotel experience of my life. Do not hesitate if you are considering booking the SOWAKA. Service was exceptional and breakfast incredible. I cannot wait to come back. The room was an oasis and perfectly located for all the sights of Kyoto. Ryura was so helpful and diligent in caring for us during our stay.

Booking Policy

It is mandatory for all guests to present valid government photo ID’s at the time of check-in.

The primary guests check-in into the hotel must meet the age requirements set by either the local government or the hotel’s policies.

Extra guests are subject to availability. And it might incur additional charges.

If guests are traveling with a child or children, it is necessary to specify the number of children accompanying them during the hotel booking process to avoid any last-minute complications.

Underage guests are only allowed to check-in with at least one parent or official guardian who fulfils the age requirements set by either the local government or the hotel’s policies.

Early check-in or late check-out request is subject to availability and the hotel may charge an additional fee for providing such services.

The price paid to Adani One includes room charges, taxes, the specified inclusions mentioned during the booking and convenience fee, if appliable. It does not cover additional services and expenses at the hotel.

Taxes, levies, charges, and any similar government fees, if applicable, will be imposed by the relevant authorities in the jurisdiction where the hotel is located. The guest is responsible for paying all such charges, as applicable.

Users can only cancel the entire booking. Partial cancellations, such as canceling specific room(s), a portion of the total nights, or specific guests out of the entire group, are not permitted.

User should not cancel the booking directly with the hotel. If a user cancels the booking directly with the hotel, Adani One will not be responsible for any refund.

Cancellation requests made through the online platform or via phone calls are the only valid and accepted methods.

After the booking is confirmed, user will need to cancel their existing booking to create a new one to make any changes such as updating the primary guest, modifying the number of guests, specifying the age of child/children, adjusting the number of rooms, or changing the check-in/check-out date and time etc.
