Overall a really great stay in a more than spacious accommodation compared to other Japanese hotel rooms. Conveniently located a couple minutes from the airport and about a 30-minute train ride into the main city, it was really nice staying at Star Gate in comparison to other more expensive hotels closer to the heart of Osaka. Enjoyed the accessibility to a park, shopping mall and convenience stores as well.

Liked · location is great (1 train stop away from the airport and walking distance from the outlet) and room is spacious for Japan standards. The view from your room is also great given the height of the hotel (: On the same note, get there early for breakfast and you can grab a table with great views! Disliked · the room and furnishing are dated and the TV is the size of a computer monitor lol but who watches TV on vacay anyway right? Also the front desk staff not everyone spoke English :( I got hung up at least twice when I called asking for 2 bottled water.

The rooms are extremely dated. You’re either gonna get an extremely soft or extremely hard bed. The rooms itself mimic the designs in the 90s. Do not have any expectations on the sofa bed (“third” bed). It is very hard to sleep on. Despite everything, the close proximity to Rinku Premium Outlet and Kansai Airport is great. However, there are many other options around that have this close proximity and cost cheaper than what’s listed.

Old hotel is not a problem, however, the elevator is very noisy. Firstly when I was checking in, I told the staff at the reception that please assign a quiet room, she told me that was a room not adjacent to the elevator, I thought it would be fine. But when we got to the room which was the 2nd one to the elevator, we found the noise was loud and cannot be ignored. Per request, another lady led us to change to another room which is far away from the elevator, but still there is tiny noise that can be heard, just not a big issue to bother the sleep. Besides, there is smell in each room and from that, you would know the hotel had been running for many years. Based on these, I think the hotel is below Japanese average level, do not recommend. The restaurant is on the top floor, with a tremendous sightseeing.
