Staycity Aparthotels, Marseille, Centre Vieux Port

I will break it down into a the 3 sections: Rooms, Service, and Location. Rooms: The room was a bit of a letdown to be honest. The pictures looked like it was really clean, but it was not the case. The floors looked like they have black skid marks everywhere which wasn't pleasant to see. There were definitely marks that had been permanently made over time (maybe from dragging chairs or tables). As for the bed, the white sheets looked clean but we did find two hairs (1 small black hair and a long white hair). For a bed to be deemed as clean, for me it has to be spotless, simple as that. The room also had a balcony, which was filthy. The curtains to open the balcony door were filthy too, so we didn't even go into the balcony. Bathroom was decent, didn't really see any dirt. Kitchen area was not the cleanest as I definitely saw cutlery that was dirty in the drawers. Toilet was ok. Room was average overall. Service: I can't complain about the service, the receptionists were all very welcoming. Upon arrival, we were given some advice where to go on a map by the receptionist which was nice. Whenever we needed something from reception, they were always willing to help. Very good service overall. Location: This is an interesting one. So, the location is close to the city center which is good. However, the city is very small so more or less most hotels will be close to the city center. Also, specifically talking about the location of the hotel, the area outside the hotel seemed a little sketchy and dirty (rubbish bins and dirt around). Overall, the location is decent. In conclusion, this hotel is for people who need a cheap budget option. Expect a place that will do the job for the time you are there, but do not expect it to be spotless clean. If you are someone that is very specific about hygiene, don't come here. If you are someone that isn't that fussed about a little dirt here and there for the right price, then you will be fine at this place. Also would like to say again, that the staff are lovely! It's just a shame that the hygiene of the place doesn't help. If this hotel improved it's hygiene, it would be a really good hotel.

Fine room if you can get it for the right price unfortunately prices were raised by the visit of the Mighty Right Stripes and the egg chasing cup at the time of my visit. Just up from the port well located for the centre short walk along the port to the main historical attractions. Breakfast disappointing for the €9 cost and better at lower cost can be found if you go out. A visit to the restaurant in the picture below is recommended on the back streets away from the expensive tourist ones. It is I am told Corsican quinine.
