Tandem Pórtico Alicante Suites

The Tandem Suites Alicante 1. Staff welcoming & charming.(you have to check in at Eurostars Portico Alicante which is approx 75Mts round the Corner. The entrance to the suites is just off the crossstreet section above Restaurant Casa Demus. I would say Poor signage. We were not accompanied by any staff member to direct us. We were told just around the corner. 2. At suites. Street entry is by Pre Programmed Card. You arrive to lift reception (bad smell). 3. We were staying in Room 5 Atico on the top floor. Lift arrives directly at the Suites door. On entry we were impressed by Suites Facilities & cleanliness and by the Private Terrace with Sun beds Tables & chairs. 4. Bathroom is small but more than adequate for 2 but we would suggest not for 3. We had a very poor ll sealed shower. The amount of water on the tiled floor. Creeped into hall way, bedroom area and is in our opinions a Health & Safety issue. We had to speak to reception 3 times before anything actually improve but only slightly. We we arrived we wondered why there was a mop & bucket in Bathroom, now we know. We were provided with extra towels to place on floor but we still had to do clearing up. Eventually the Maintenance man arrived on the 4th day. Did his best to try and reseal shower. Little or no improvement. This spoilt our holiday and also the overall impression of our stay. We stopped going to reception to complain as it was embarrassing. We were treated to 2 Coktails as away of apology! So generous. We discovered later the Shower issue has been a constant one as reported in black and white on other Reviews we found. 5. Bed room small & tight with poor storage for clothes etc. Be ok for 2/3 nights but we stayed 8 nights. We had to use the clothes airer to hang trouser,shorts etc. Bed comfortable but if you have small space issues Beware! 6. Kitchen facilities were adequate for 2 but there were no instructions booklets for washing machine. Microwave or induction hob. Good fridge storage. We don’t speak Spanish. So we would say for none Spanish speakers,instructions for these is a must. 7. Small eating area with table and chairs with Bed come couch. Large TV with only News channels in English. As far as we could see no streaming connections available as there were also noInstruction Booklet for TV. 8. They advertise A/C it is positioned to the right of the TV unit and is hard to read, once again no Instruction Booklet. We can say the A/C is extremely poor. Better with roof fan. The building is very hot a night as it is a lovely old renovation. So we discovered if you TRY !!!!!! To sleep with window or balcony doors open. You should just go down to street and join the throng as the noise with windows etc open is very loud. It continues to at least 3am (true) Also Mosquito issue with night Humidity. Take Mosquito Spray from May-end. The smells from the many Restaurants in the surrounding streets might concern some customers but you get used to it. Street cleaning goes on through the night along with all the Clubbers screaming and shouting. 9. Terrace is the redeeming factor for this Suite. Sun all day and beds very comfy. Enjoy the bells of the 4 Churches around the suite. It’s actually very soothing and they do not Ring after 8pm. The restart around 5am. 10. Staff were always polite and charming Suite ok!but the issue with showering would stop us from returning. We visit Alicante City & Villajoyosa often every year. It disappoints us to say this about accommodation in a city we always have enjoyed using.
