For the category of hotel, old school European small hotel, I think it's outstanding. I've worked in luxury hotels for many years but when in SF, I really enjoy the location as well as personalized guest experience I have at this hotel. Staff and management are exceptionally pleasant and accommodating. Fino, the attached restaurant is lovely and the food is amazing. Again, small but a very personalized approach to their business. Charles the manager always makes me feel like family. If you want a low key European hotel experience in proximity to all the best of SF then you'll appreciate this hotel. If you don't like urban life then you won't appreciate this hotels location. They offer a lovely Continental breakfast which is perfect for people who don't want or need a big American style breakfast. My room is clean and very comfortable. Brought my own Roku stick so I could watch what I like when not out and kicking about the city. It's no Holiday Inn and that's a good thing in my opinion. Highly recommend 👍

I'll preface by saying the staff was friendly and attentive. Also, I thought the size of the rooms were perfectly adequate. Despite that I have to give this place a one star review. As for my major issues: The bed was a flat, worn-out, and slanted spring mattress. The pillows were worn out and flattened like a pancake after laying on them for 30 minutes. The window shades didn't do a good job of keeping light out. I woke up tired and in a lot of pain every morning. If these could be taken care of I would give this place 4 stars. If they took care of the unusably slow internet and added a gluten-free breakfast pastry, I would probably even bump it up to 5. I will warn that the neighborhood can be a bit gross depending on which way you walk. However, it was definitely close to downtown. I recommend going to the surrounding neighborhoods of downtown. They're cleaner, more active, and fun. Unless you are one of those people who can sleep on any surface, I don't recommend staying here.

Really lovely little place. Old school quaint, reminds me of a European hotel. Cute old timey elevator. Super comfortable bed (and it WAS described as comfy in the booking). Great staff and service. Free glass of wine during 5-6pm happy hour at their restaurant for guests each night. Continental breakfast on floors 4 and 6 in the morning. Super nice central location.
