        Stayed for 4 nights and this was our favourite hotel for the Japan trip. We will book this hotel when we go Kyoto again. Location is fantastic. It's just a few minutes walk away from the main shopping area & train stations. Room is very new & clean. Very spacious. Staff is good too.

        Stayed for 2 nights on 30th and 31st Dec, exceeded our expectations. We stayed in the non-smoking room on the first night and smoking room on the second night because we made separate booking. Smoking room vs non-smoking room felt the same, we were worried about the odour but surprising there wasn’t. Breakfast was very delicious, feature live fruit juice station and even honey from real honey comb!! (See picture) Lounge was super impressive, provided free alcohol drinks snacks and even had a lovely fireplace for us to roast our marshmallows! On new year day when we checked out, we were served with new year sake and lovely traditional music performance. And there were a whole series of performance for free made available to guests for the week. (See pictures!) Such a lovely and thoughtful experience, will be back here for sure!!

        This hotel's location was perfect!! It was in the middle of so many food options. It isn't that close to the subway station, but honestly the environment surrounding the hotel makes up for it. This was my first time in Kyoto and this hotel was perfect for its location. The rooms were very spacious and clean as well. We did not eat at their restaurants, so can't rate the food. Staff were extremely kind and check in process was very easy. Views from the high floors are great!

        We spent 5 days at The Gate Hotel. If we were to make our way back to Kyoto, we would stay here again and again. To start, the hotel is very clean. It’s a pleasant stay to arrive yo your hotel room and see all amenities in good state and also in a clean state. The hotel itself is also quiet, it’s located on a very lively street but you can’t hear anything from the rooms. The area is also why I would stay here again, it’s steps away from delicious restaurants, shops, and cafes.

        We had three wonderful days in this very centrally located hotel in Kyoto. The rooms are spacious and clean. The personnel is very friendly and courteous. Unfortunately, we were offered an extra breakfast package for a fee every morning - despite having brought our own breakfast. We never experienced this at any other Japanese hotel on our trip. Breakfast is breakfast!
