This hotel is undergoing a renovation. We were in an upgraded room with a view of the street. There was a considerable amount of noise both outside and inside the hotel. The room was comfortable, it appeared the renovation was rushed because there was paint on the wallpaper and carpet as well as some issues with the wallpaper in the bathroom. The staff was hit or miss, our check in was exceptional and our concierge was superb. The staff very graciously allowed us to check in early, which was very welcome after a long period of travel. Leaving the hotel was a different experience, though, the desk staff were perfunctory and the concierge was patronizing. The breakfast area, which doubles as a lounge area in the afternoon/evening was exquisite and the service was exceptional, some of the best we've experienced. The location was about as perfect for sightseeing as we could have wanted, so close to the The Prado and different squares and plazas.

I highly recommend The Westin Palace, Madrid. It is truly a palace. This is not only a most beautiful hotel but the service, location, and rooms make it a perfect place to stay in Madrid. The hotel is super clean and those who want to work out have a fully equipped gym available 24/7. The breakfast is fit for a queen or king. I want to especially thank David who helped us so much with our decisions as to which places to visit. He made it so easy for us to get our train tickets to Toledo and Segovia. His recommendations were perfect ones for us. His patience and kindness is exemplary.

We were here a few years ago(sorry for the delay as we recently started posting some reviews.) The staff here was extremely friendly and accommodating. The location is great as its central to anything you want to do in Madrid. Would highly recommend staying here!

The Palace has a long, storied history that makes it a must when visiting Madrid...at least once. It's a beautiful hotel in close proximity to the Prado Museum and Gran Via, which connects many of the city's main tourist attractions, as well as hot spots for dining, shopping, and evening activities. I could easily give the Palace a five star rating if they hadn't missed the mark on service. In this case, our room wasn't ready due to a late (4pm!) checkout, and we were encouraged to take either a non-upgraded room or a room on the first floor despite booking a premium room. After stating we would be willing to wait for the room scheduled for us (as if there were only one -- it's a large hotel and hardly seemed full) we were again encouraged to select what felt like a downgrade. Upon saying yes to a third floor non-remodeled room, which was beautiful but in need of some new furnishings, we were offered to commit to a $29 euro per person breakfast - seems like an easy comp for the trouble (didn't ask, didn't offer, we declined). That evening, the bar closed early, but we were told we could have a drink in the rotunda, which is a very beautiful room itself. We only had 15 minutes until close (12am), and no one came to serve us. My wife and I had been waiting a long time to stay here and had a disappointing experience. I'm sure that's not the case, or will be, for everyone. We chose to stay in a different part of Madrid at the close of our vacation (Only You across from Atocha) and had a wonderful experience (at nearly half the price). Sure, the rooms are small (which I don't mind), but the service and atmosphere was exceptional. Don't skip the Palace just be aware of what you may get - or not get - in advance.
