        I loved the location next to the river and the simple but elegant design. Austerity is the word. The rooms were spacious and the views really beautiful. One of the bars was closed although I would have liked to get a drink in that particular one. Again , a whiskey shot for 45$ is a bit steep but ok. Staff was very polite and friendly. Unfortunately prices for the property are way up in the sky. I might be coming back anyway just for pampering myself.

        Just finished a stay here at the Ritz Kyoto. From checkin person Pink, our cycle guide Bo, concierge desk for making dining reservations and the thoughtful gifts at checkout, the service is impeccable. The aesthetic of the hotel is beautiful. Both the Japanese and Western breakfast choices were amazing as well. Would definitely be coming back again!

        The best hotel we stayed at in Japan and arguably one of the best hotels in the world. The updated rooms, and the hotel as a whole, are a masterpiece in design, doing an amazing job of fusing traditional Japanese architecture with modern, functional design. The river and mountain sunrise views from the east facing rooms in particular were incredible to wake up to. The central location, minutes away from the city's best shopping and restaurants and adjacent to the river walk and Gion, is unbeatable, at least compared to the hotel's 5 star Kyoto peers like the 4S and PH (among others) that are either flung out across the city or located in over-packed tourist hot spots. Where the hotel really shines is with the staff... whether it was something as simple as a welcome gift for our honeymoon or something complex like a private samurai experience, the hotel's employees went above and beyond to make the final days of our trip memorable. It felt like each staff member in the hotel knew exactly who we were and what our plans for the day were and did their best to improve our experience. One staff member even took the time to write us a very personalized farewell card and present us with a fantastic farewell gift. It's hard to imagine a better hotel to stay at in Japan and we will certainly be back, provided we can afford it!

        A warm greeting upon entering the front yard, and a nice short walk from the reception counter to your room. We had private view to a zen garden to our room and the room is spacious. Never seen such a big room in any major city in Japan before. The room is decorated with high quality Japanese style but with high-tech builds. What amazes me was the evening service that they come to your room to fill your ice and do a mini clean up for you everyday. I love the handmade origami’s, and they were very cute. 🥰

This stunning hotel is not just a place to stay; it's a living museum, showcasing meticulous attention to detail in its design and ambiance. The real highlight, however, is the impeccable service. The food and beverage team, particularly Eaint, left us in awe with their thoughtful and personalized service. Eaint's remarkable ability to remember the little details about our daughter's preferences, like her love for extra-large portions of raspberries and eggs with cheese on the side, made our dining experiences truly special. Speaking of dining, the French Toast by Hemes is nothing short of a culinary masterpiece. It's so exquisite that I can confidently say it's the best French toast I'll ever taste in my life. And that's a statement I make happily, knowing that it gives me one more reason to return. The dedication of the staff, including Reina, Pablo, and Teppei at the concierge, along with the entire front desk team, was heartwarming. Their genuine warmth, tireless work ethic, and the delightful small conversations we shared as they escorted us, added a personal touch to our stay. Our room was always exquisitely cleaned, showcasing the same level of care and attention to detail that we experienced throughout the hotel. I was particularly touched by the thoughtful gesture of adding plastic bumpers to the table corners to ensure our baby's safety.           Booking Policy
          It is mandatory for all guests to present valid government photo ID’s at the time of check-in.
          The primary guests check-in into the hotel must meet the age requirements set by either the local government or the hotel’s policies.
