TRAFFIC Hostel

Honestly not as bad as other reviewers made it out to be. A quirky experience, yes, but not terrible. To be clear, this hostel is located in a typical old apt. building/Altbau in a 2nd floor flat which contributed to a pretty nice homey feel. Definitely different from your chain hostel experience. The window open through the night in our room partially helped offset a rather smelly roommate. More accurate photos on Google/Apple Maps and booking sites would be helpful - we already know what Budapest looks like lol. Booking.com was the way to go, since the staff could coordinate a check-in time for us via the app email. Lockers are available that can fit 2+ regular sized backpacks. The receptionist that popped in to check us in was informative and proficient. I do feel bad for the older woman who was the overnight worker there when the reception worker was away. Hope she's not overworked! Seemed a bit done with life after having to deal with somewhat rude guests from my room. Wishing her the best. Oh, while I didn't have a problem with this, I imagine an inexperienced traveler would have no idea how to get out of this apartment building and would probably trip down the stairs if it were nighttime. If you're unfamiliar with old European apartment buildings, the white buttons in the outdoor corridors are your best friend lol.

Preface by saying I already had a long, terrible day. Arrived here and was given a choice to pay by cash or card, chose the latter. Was asked if I am sure that I don't want to go withdraw money🤷🏾‍♀️. Of course, yes, I am sure. Found the receptionist guy to just erring of the side of rude, which of course, I am bound to respond in kind. Anyways, I liked the other guy working there plus the lady who was there the following morning. I liked the room, quite airy but wow, definitely not my room mates but that is neither here or there. I loved the kitchen, especially the fact that it was clean and had a working oven. I have been doing hostels for about 5 years now so know the whole clean up after yourself so of course I was annoyed when the receptionist came to me and repeatedly came looking at what I was doing in the kitchen and then in a condescending voice said: "You will wash that, right?". No, sir, was planning on letting the oven tray fester on and on until maggots have babies and make me a grandmama🙄. But yep, the place was good and clean but the attitude made me go book a hostel elsewhere for half of the price, and double the politeness.
