The rooms are bare, like a college dorm. Or jail. They have radiant heat and are stifling hot. The knob on the thermostat in my room was broken, so it couldn't be adjusted. When I showed it to staff, he shrugged his shoulders, walked into my room, opened the window, nodded at me, and left. The open window didn't provide much relief, but it did let in all the noise from the traffic and the bar below as well as the light...it didn't get dark until 11pm. I got no sleep. Aldo, it was on the outer edge of town, so you have to walk quite a way to get to the good restaurants.

We are not staying here and thank god. We have friends here though and the hotel should be ashamed of itself. Terrible....just a dump for US$70 per night and some people pay more. Visiting Ushuaia from abroad customers book ahead and just don't know, plus Ushuaia is a popular place and busy all the time. This is the only way this hotel can get business. If you could see a room before your stay you definitely wouldn't stay!

I had hopes after reading about the renovated rooms, but I was the unfortunate soul that got one of the old rooms. They seem to have renovated the back rooms and the rooms upfront are not yet completed (if they plan on renovating them). My room was decent sized. The bed was a very small single bed and the bathroom was spacious. However, that's where my positive reviews end. I understand two star hotels don't offer many amenities, but any hotel should at least be clean and offer the basics. Hotel Monaco did not. The curtains were stained (I don't want to know how), the carpet was ripped, the white sheets were very yellow, and there was mold all over my shower. A simple bleaching would solve this issue. At first I thought it was just my room, but then sitting in the front lobby I saw all these black things on the floor everywhere. I thought they were crumbs, but upon closer inspection they were dead bugs!!! I'm glad I only stayed one night, because even at a lower budget hotel, cleanliness is a basic. Lastly, be ready to buy your own amenities. There was no shampoo at this hotel. I would recommend to stay away and pay an extra $20-30/night for something that's cleaner.

I had payed for a double room and was given a single room in the old part of the building by staff who really couldn't be bothered by guests - one of them really has an attitude problem. Went back and told them I wanted my double room and was told there weren't any. I was sent to a building half a block away. Room is Ok but bathroom leaves much to be desired. To sit in the toilet one has to grab the ADA handle in the shower to lower yourself to the seat!!!! The shower is clogged and water won't go down. Also the towels are spotted and kind of smelly. Clearly the owner is not paying attention to the older part of the hotel since the single room I was assigned first was also old and undated. I don't mind old but at least update the carpets! Beware if you face the street!!! So much noise because the windows are not insulated AT ALL. The windows in my room have gaps so all the noise and outside elements (drafts) will come in. Someone is not doing any Quality Control. Spending all the money on an 8 floor building while screwing other guests. Three out of my 5 nights there were so noisy I'm seriously sleep deprived.
