I have been a patron of Villa Garda for over a decade and for good reason: this B&B has not forgotten what matters, which is friendship and family. The entire staff, the owners, and their children make VG feel like home. I’m frustrated by some reviews that seem to nitpick in a trivial manner, or critique things the owners have little control over. Stay here and gain new family with both those that live/work here and the fascinating diversity of people from around the world. I’ve stayed at numerous other accommodations throughout Cape Town, watered down to corporate modes of “hospitality,” all of which lose the spirit of South Africa. If you’re looking to be pampered by privilege, those places might work. If you want to feel welcome and validated, VG is your home. - Nate (Minneapolis, USA).

The location and host are fantastic. We had a sports tournament at UCT and Villa Garda was perfect because the fields were a 5 minute drive away. In fact, we could have walked there in 10/15 minutes. Elias was very accommodating and organised a packed breakfast which was enjoyed at the fields. The set up was perfect for a touring team as there were enough rooms (beds and bathrooms/showers) as well as communal areas (dining room and pool area) for us to socialise and enjoy each other's company. The rooms were well appointed and beds comfortable (avoid the top 2 rooms in the cottage as the water pressure is a bit low).

I didn't get the room I've booked. Upon my arrival, host told me they were fully booked and took me to a tiny and freezingg room, near the pool outside the Main house adjacente to the cottage. I could stay Only for 3 nights. When I told him I was leaving becouse of those conditions, he showed me the room I was supposed to stay, inside the Main house and in our conversa tio I could understand that he didn't want to put me there becouse I booked through a 3rd party and he prefer to have white guests. The other problem is the lack of privacy and the absence of a power generator to cope with the blackouts that happen every day. He tryed to look and sounds friendly, but in fact, he was not.
