        Location is great. Everything else needs a lot of overhaul: the rooms, the bar, the lobby, the hallways are definitely not as fancy as they look on pictures, a little aged even. Nothing luxurious about them. Beside this, when we got there, a full blown nightclub was set up in the bar and lobby areas, where guests are supposed to check in. We could not hear the clerk’s instructions because the music was so loud. We were contained in a tiny area with bouncers making sure regular guests didn’t trespass. A noisy college-aged crowd in kinky outfits were roaming the hallways with no regards for actual hotel guests (and their kids). A group of about 10 partygoers was in the room next to us, screaming and yelling all night. Brawls were taking place outside. This place was a complete mess and the party lasted for 2 nights. This would all have been fine had we been informed. But apparently, the hotel isn’t obligated to let guests know ahead of time, and no info is posted on their official website, where we booked. I left a review on their site where a very apologetic manager pretty much wished us “better luck next time”. But when I contacted him about this privately, no answer. Even after 3 emails. So customer care is in effect completely non-existent, except to publicly save face. Same thing from Marriott corporate. In other words, there is no telling what guests step into when booking there. We grossly overpaid because the experience was miserable and nothing like promised. But it’s not even worth it in the first place: the hotel is clearly outdated and not kid-friendly, no one was welcoming or even nice. Parking is outrageously expensive. For the same amount, there are much better options right next door. Please do not answer this post if it’s only to say that things will be better for future guests and unhappy reviewers should give the hotel another shot. I already got that answer and waited over 3 months for a fair resolution without any consideration given to our case. Thank you.

        Stayed one night at W - have been here before - friendly, efficient and helpful check-in experience; fabulous gym with all the equipment you could dream of and disposable head phones, water and apples - so a high- end experience; great brunch - fruit cup had a wide range of fruits so helpful on my quest of 30 plant based foods a week - flavorful berries, melon, cantaloupe, pineapple, grapes. An omelette that had hidden treasures of spinach, mushrooms, cheddar cooked in the fold, so helps their structure and flavor. Great service. Would highly recommend. They have a master light switch beside bed so easy to turn off all the lighting, and the beds are divine and lead to a very restful night.Bathroom products always a stand out - so a very indulgent self-care experience with a cool rather than stuffy vibe.

        I had a wonderful time in the W SF. The room was clean,well stocked and quiet, despite my room facing the main road. I received a daily allowance of USD40 (but didn’t use any of it 🤣) for food/drinks. The breakfast (ala carte) had good variety. I will certainly stay here again if I am back in SF.

        It’s called a W, but this hotel looks like a nightclub all day, starting with the very dim lighting and loud rap music in the lobby and common areas ALL DAY. The bar area is overcrowded at nights- looks like a pickup place- def not what I’d call a business or family-friendly hotel. There is no lobby area really to sit to make a phone call. Service has much room for improvement- our room was not made the second day- no explanation was offered when asked- no apology either. We were out from noon to 11pm, so I don’t understand why a hotel like W can’t make a room in all day. The destination fee is just a way to charge more for the room. I didn’t find any value. When I booked the room, the Marriott website said that the fee included a tote bag. When we arrived, front desk had no idea. We aren’t staying here again. We like the Marriott group, but also have a strong preference for a professional ambience.

        Good hotel if you’re only staying for a couple of nights and you’re on business. Walls are thin so we heard every snore, shout and shower from rooms next to ours. Average facilities generally and only coffee no tea in the room. Breakfast is tasty but super expensive and you need to order off a menu instead of having a buffet self serve. Instead go to the Grove 1 min away for food.
