        This hotel is perfect for a trip to New York. The location is just fantastic for most things to do . Just around the corner from Central Park and a 10 minute walk to Times Square. We walked everywhere. The breakfast was fantastic and the complimentary food and drinks between 5 and 8 was an added bonus. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay there again.

        I was in NY for trade shows earlier this month. The location was ideal. The courtesy, professionalism, and friendliness of the entire staff enhanced the quality of my stay. The large varied buffet at the Terrace was excellent. My room was well appointed, spacious, and clean. The WestHouse may be the best value in Manhattan. I will definitely be back.

        We stayed here for a week and the experience was good with room to improve! Our room was spacious but there was a lot of rusting and the tv did not work but they gave us a new one when we requested it. The service could have been better. They did not service our room twice even when we specifically asked for it. The beds were comfortable and the staff was really friendly! The great things about this hotel is the location as well as their breakfast and happy hours for the guests. Free breakfast and drinks for guests was a really nice touch. The location is right next to the subway to get anywhere!

        This is NOT a 5 star hotel!! I'll give it 3.5 - 4 stars maximum. - The Room: too small for a king size room, AC doesn't work, is mega loud, and blows only warm air. For December it was freaking warm in the room. The bathroom was dirty. The furniture looks heavily used and old and doesn't reflect the pictures at all. No minibar, no tea cooker or coffee machine, the room has basically nothing. The bathroom door doesn't close properly because the door is smaller than the door frame... . - Common area: Dirty and not well maintained. The hallway is packed with trash bags and service wagons at any time of the day. Not a nice view for a 5 star hotel. - Breakfast: No space at all. They accept more people than they can feed. I tried different hours, but it was packed each day. The food choice is ok. Many tables and chairs are not stable, which is really annoying to eat on. Food is lying on the floor and the staff just walks pass it. It is so loud because the staff literally throws the dishes into bins with no respect of their surroundings. Plastic and paper cups for your juice and coffee... that is not 5 stars!!! The tables are not cleaned after someone leaves it. Not a place to have a nice breakfast in the morning! After the amount of money I spent, staying in this hotel was a disappointment.

        This was a ridiculously bad experience for a 5-star, extremely expensive hotel. The room was not clean: there was trash still in the restroom bin from the previous guest, and the couch had a sticky, crusty, dripping stain all down the back. The worst part was the elevator. Absolutely RIDICULOUS that the front desk failed to inform me that anything was going on. I waited for my floor's elevator for 10 minutes before a maid told me I had to take the service elevator down. This created problems the remainder of my stay, with wait times for the service elevator up to 12 minutes. It was also extremely cramped to the point of being unsafe due to high demand. The "waiters" at happy hour and breakfast just sat around. Didn't attempt to be courteous, helpful, nothing. At breakfast, a sweet little boy asked an older "waiter" for something and he refused to answer, pointing at cabinets and making him search himself until the mom came over. Reception was terrible: they couldn't find the reservation of a repeat guest who shared his frustrations with me over their attitude. Of course, his reservation was found when they bothered to actually check. While they were dealing with him, the older woman at the desk literally talked on the phone to a family member for 7 minutes. Talking about Christmas, etc. It was extremely frustrating and inappropriate to have me wait. Finally, worst of all, the room to my door didn't close unless it was yanked shut. So I was completely unsafe and exposed until I noticed this. Then, while I was on a business call after returning from breakfast, a maid walked right into my room to tell me the door was open. I was clearly uncomfortable and she just kept talking and wouldn't leave the room- asking if I worked there for some reason. I explained multiple times I was a guest, thanks for calling out that the door was open. She just kept questioning me on if I was checking out, or if I was going to work. It was offensive and inappropriate: you specifically advertise within the room that no one will come in uninvited- what a joke! Finally, I got her out, but when I was leaving, she continued to question me in the hallway, seeing me with my luggage and stating accusingly "I thought you were going to work". I explained that I was, and that I was just taking my luggage with me, which shouldn't have been necessary. Just one thing after another, this was my worst work travel experience I've had.
