Beyond the popular landmarks, here, I will also delve inn to the lesser-known regions where you can see the beauty of nature unfold in its truest form. The hot air balloon rides offered by Rajasthan are vibrant and grand; they truly define the essence of the vibrant state with its arid beauty. Drifting through the early morning skies, the resplendent colours of Jaipur’s pink city come to life, with the majestic Amber Fort and City Place below, serving as architectural gems standing strong beneath the golden hues of sunrise. The expansive views stretch to the beautiful landscapes of Nahargarh and Jaigarh, all a testament to Rajasthan’s royal legacy.
As the balloon ascends, you can see the Thar Dessert below, a vast ochre canvas of sand beneath! The dunes, shining in the morning light, create a mesmerizing panorama that captivates your senses. You can compare the dessert’s stark beauty against the opulent palaces of the city of Jaipur, which weave a visual narrative you could take with you, long after the ride ends.
Jaipur has its own charm and then there’s the blue city of Jodhpur! Flying over this city you can see the Mehrangarh Fort and the cerulean-hued houses, all creating an awe-inspiring spectacle. The calm landscapes and perfectly complemented by the ancient temples and stepwells, offering a serene respite from the vibrant chaos of urban life.
How could I miss Udaipur in this list? In Udaipur, the ‘City of Lakes’, a hot air balloon ride becomes a ballet above the serene backdrop of Lake Pichola and Fatehsagar. You can also see various palaces, including the iconic Lake Palace, emerge like mirages, creating a fairy-tale against the background of Aravalli Hills.

If you’re a fan of the Northern skies in India, then you must experience the hot air balloon ride once in Uttar Pradesh. This ride would unveil to you, the cultural richness, architectural marvels and natural splendour of this state; everything you need to amplify the thrill of a balloon ride!
A sunrise ascent over the iconic Taj Mahal is a surreal experience. I took my first balloon ride over the Taj Mahal itself and let me tell you, this was one of the most unforgettable experiences of my life. The first rays of light gently caressing its ivory facade transform it into a luminescent masterpiece. The Yamuna River winder its way beneath, adding a tranquil charm to the overall spectacle. Floating over the historic city of Agra, you also get the chance to adore the expanse of the Red Fort and the ancient Minarets. As the balloon gracefully glides over the fertile plains of Uttar Pradesh, you witness the rustic charm of rural life below. There’re patchwork fields, quaint villages and meandering rivers!
Whilst the Agra Experience is a masterpiece, I could also recommend taking one if you’re in the city of Varanasi. Perched on the banks of the sacred Ganges, this city provides a spiritual dimension to your adventurous balloon ride. Hovering above the ghats and temple spires, you could witness the timeless rituals and devotion that define the very essence of the city. The juxtaposition of tradition and modernity that you experience from the skies, add profoundness to your hot air balloon journey.

Next, the ancient ruins of Hampi, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, comes alive from the skies. The boulders and temples scattered across the landscapes of Vijayanagara and the Tunagbhadra river adds a serene touch to this historic panorama.
My personal favourite place to experience hot air balloon ride in Karnataka is Coorg, where the verdant coffee plantations and mist-kissed hills are a treat to the eyes! The journey would offer you an unparalleled view of Nagarhole National Park, also inviting glimpses of Karnataka’s diverse wildlife, ranging from elephants to big cats, all thriving in their natural habitat.
