This iconic stretch along the Arabian Sea stands among the top must-visit spots for photographers in Mumbai. The picturesque views of the city's skyline and the sea offer fantastic opportunities for photographing cityscapes, especially during sunrise and sunset. After you're done photographing, I suggest you take a moment to relax and unwind by the sea, perhaps with some music. It's an experience that can temporarily melt away your worries, leaving you refreshed and rejuvenated.
Another iconic landmark, the Gateway of India in Mumbai offers plenty of opportunities for portrait photography. Whether you're interested in taking candid shots of the locals or posing with friends against the backdrop of the majestic arch, the Gateway of India is a great spot to capture memorable photographs. Opposite to it is the grand Taj Mahal Palace, which is also an amazing backdrop for portrait photography.
This one’s my absolute favourite. Bandra village, located in the bustling suburb of Bandra, is a hidden gem for photography enthusiasts. Not known to many, this quaint neighbourhood is all about its narrow lanes, old-world charm, and vibrant street art scene. One of the highlights of Bandra village is the graffiti and street art that adorns the walls of many buildings. The area has become a canvas for local artists to express themselves and showcase their talent. From colourful murals to thought-provoking messages, the graffiti in Bandra village offers a unique and dynamic backdrop for photography enthusiasts. I came across this place on my first trip to Mumbai. It felt like I was walking through an open-air art gallery.
If you want to add some nature photography shots to your portfolio, head to Sanjay Gandhi National Park. This sprawling park boasts lush greenery, scenic waterfalls, and plenty of wildlife. Witness mother nature at her best and keep your camera handy to capture shots of the park's resident leopards, macaques, and deer. Keep in mind that for any kind of photography involving a professional camera (barring your phone), a ticket costing Rs. 50 is to be purchased. However, visitors are required to be mindful and should avoid using the camera's flash as it may disturb the animals. Additionally, for any commercial photography or video shooting, one can contact the ticket counter staff.

Whenever I get a chance to travel across Mumbai via train, I never miss photographing the railway station. The station's iconic clock tower and arched entrance are perfect for cityscape shots. If you are willing to go a little farther to get incredible shots, then Elephanta Caves is the place for you. Located on an island just off the coast of Mumbai, these caves are a paradise for historians or an archaeologists. The intricate carvings and sculptures and the rock-cut architecture make for some stunning detail shots. Moreover, the island's natural beauty provides plenty of opportunities for landscape photography. Note that tripods are not allowed on site, so make sure you come prepared with a ‘rock-steady’ grip!
This quiet and quaint neighbourhood in South Mumbai boasts beautiful colonial architecture and Edwardian old-world charm. The streets are lined with vintage cars and colourful buildings, making for some great photo ops. Additionally, the food here is to die for. So, if you are feeling hungry and tired after your photo walk, visit the cafes here for some tasty treats.
