Are you looking for a getaway near Bengaluru? Take a break and unwind in the comforting arms of mother nature at Ambatty Greens Resort in Coorg.
While browsing the listings for luxury resorts in Coorg, I stumbled upon the lovely Amritara Ambatty Greens Resort. The resort is located in Bitangalla, near Coorg Golf Links, in Virajpet, Karnataka (GeoTag: 12.182382241428346, 75.82856112389418). The resort's Golf-View Rooms immediately caught my attention. Even as I was admiring the images of the property, a tempting "Early Bird Deal" popped up on my screen, offering a whopping discount of 48 per cent, if I booked the room seven days in advance. Without a second thought, I booked the Golf-View Room and paid Rs. 41,507 (net) for three nights and four days; this included complimentary breakfast and dinner. Perfect for avid golfers and outdoor enthusiasts, these rooms allow occupancy for three adults and a kid up to the age of five years. There is an additional charge of Rs. 2,000 for children aged between 6 to 11 years. The Executive Rooms looked impressive too at Rs. 31,836 (net), and even included four complimentary beers! Note that room tariffs are subject to seasonal variations; be sure to check the hotel's website for details. But the superb deal wasn't the only reason for my excitement. Since I had stayed at Amritara Hotels twice before, I had complete trust in their excellent hospitality.
After a flight to Bengaluru and a 5-hour cab ride to Coorg, I finally reached this oasis of calm. Nestled amidst the Western Ghats and bordered by an 18-hole golf course, Amritara Ambatty Greens Resort lives up to its name—all around I could only see an infinite expanse of greenery. A well-paved stone path meandering through the manicured lawn led me to my Golf View Room. The moment I stepped inside, the first thing I noticed was the seamless fusion of traditional architecture and modern comforts. I was immediately struck by the spaciousness of the room and the exclusive balcony area. I placed my backpack on the study table before heading to the balcony. A massive glass door, perfectly positioned opposite the bed, unveiled a sweeping view of the 18-hole Coorg Golf Course. It dawned on me that I could enjoy this picturesque view while lying on the bed. Meanwhile, the flat-screen TV caught my eye. But I found myself contemplating whether I would even need to turn it on with such stunning views of nature surrounding me.
It was a beautiful evening and I was eager to explore more of the resort. However, I was famished after the long journey; it was time to have dinner earlier than usual. The welcoming staff at the resort's in-house restaurant, Arabasta, had thoughtfully arranged for an outdoor table for me, beside the pool. Settling into a comfortable wooden chair, I ordered a vegetable curry and an akki roti (flatbread made from rice flour). The flickering candlelight illuminating the table, combined with the soft orange glow of the lights around the pool on a moonlit night, created a magical ambience. The hot and fluffy roti paired well with the tasty curry. I savoured every bite and chose to end my meal with a soul-satisfying vanilla pudding. With my plans already laid out for the next day's activities at Ambatty Greens, I decided to retire early. The cosy comfort of my bed and the buzzing of crickets and cicadas gently lulled me to sleep. The next morning, I woke up to the sound of chirping birds. The resort and the surrounding greenery seemed to bask in the soft warm caress of the sun. Inspired by the scene, I embarked on a short morning walk to immerse myself in the peaceful surroundings.
After returning to the resort, I plunged into its infinity pool. The view of the golf course and the distant coffee estates from the water's edge left me awestruck. After taking a swim, I felt refreshed and couldn't help but marvel at how this hideaway in the hills of Coorg offered all the modern amenities while still being surrounded by nature. I hurried back to my room, where a delicious breakfast spread awaited me on the balcony, as part of my package. Here, I found the wooden table laid with trays bearing hot medu vada, sambhar, chutney, toast with jam, fruit, filter coffee, and a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice. I thoroughly enjoyed my breakfast while taking in fine views of the resort pool, the sprawling golf course, tranquil ponds, and the green hills in the distance. Later that day, I made the most of my stay in Coorg by cycling around and exploring the coffee estates. The bicycle ride was also part of my holiday package and it allowed me to explore the place at my own pace. During one of these rides, I was lucky enough to catch sight of the rare Black-naped Monarch flycatcher. I also took the opportunity to visit the nearby Iruppu Waterfall and Harangi Backwaters. On another peaceful afternoon, I sought solace in the resort's library, indulging in some quiet time with a book. As the evening approached, I spent time playing snooker, which was also included in my package. Later, I parked myself around a cosy bonfire for dinner, where I engaged in conversations with other guests and even made some friends.
Amritara Ambatty Greens Resort proved to be a heavenly stay. Over the four days I spent here, I immersed myself in solitude and serenity. From the picturesque settings and golf course views to the warm hospitality of the staff, this resort in Coorg is nothing short of a haven of calm amidst all the indulgence. The stay left me rejuvenated and with a heart full of memories.
