Experience the wilderness of the jungle at the Lebua Corbett, an adventure resort like no other.
I yearned for a true jungle experience—waking up to the sound of chirping birds and the sight of green treetops. Inspired by childhood favourites like The Jungle Book and The Lion King, I eagerly suggested Lebua Corbett— an eco-adventure resort nestled in the Himalayas—for our family holiday. I was filled with excitement as I looked forward to my stay at the property, where beautifully designed villas, suites, and residences awaited, offering the opportunity to witness majestic animals in their natural habitat!

Jim Corbett National Park—India's first national park—lies at the foothills of the mighty Himalayas. About a five-hour drive from New Delhi, this park offers a picturesque landscape with hills, depressions, rivers, and calm lakes. Lebua Corbett is located in Bhakarakot, Mohan Ramnagar—nestled alongside the national park, and is a 4-5 hours drive from Delhi. The luxurious jungle resort promises a rarified and up-close encounter with nature at its most spectacular. Spread over 9 acres, Lebua Corbett’s 47 aesthetically designed villas, suites and residences are equipped with all modern conveniences, each with its own private patio or balcony. The resort offers bespoke safaris, birding and nature walks, and is the perfect place to explore the jungle either by vehicle or on foot.
Our adventure began as soon as we hopped on a 4x4 vehicle to reach the jungle resort. The drive itself was a thrilling experience as we navigated through the jungle track. Along the way, we encountered sambar, spotted and barking deer, wild boars, and mischievous monkeys. We caught a quick glimpse of a herd of elephants too, and my father was certain about hearing the distant roar of a tiger. As we checked into our villa, the private sit-out beckoned us to relax and admire the surrounding. Everything from the separate bedroom, living area and personal walkway afforded us great views of the jungle. We sat in the private sit-out for a while and soaked in the beauty of our surroundings in complete silence. After this brief break, we were ready to explore the wilderness.
After a quick conversation with the hotel concierge and staff, my family and I were all set to get started with our pre-made list of activities. We began with a photography workshop to brush up our skills; my parents needed this more than I did. Guided by towering trees, vibrant flowers, and glistening streams, we marveled at the stunning scenery during our walk. The fresh scent of the earth combined with the melodic sounds of nature, made each step even more captivating, especially when we engaged in the fascinating pursuit of animal tracking. We spent our day on foot, tracking tigers, spotting birds and deer, and, to my luck, interacting with a parade of elephants. Accompanying us were the delightful Himalayan dogs, serving as our loyal pet patrol. Alongside these friendly companions, our guide shared captivating stories about the mountains, the jungle, and its fascinating inhabitants.
But the real deal was the bespoke Jungle Safari that had us out in the open, in the middle of the jungle, surrounded by the wild. Our knowledgeable guides regaled us with captivating tales and pointed out fascinating track marks, setting our imagination on fire. While the mighty tiger remained elusive, its distant presence reverberated through the air, leaving us in awe. Every single walk was laced with photographic moments—the sheep grazing in the morning, the horses in the property that loved a good pat, the dogs running around, and the sun shining on the cobblestone path to the glass doors of the property. There was more—a birding tour specially crafted for bird lovers. We spotted many avian wonders like the Indian White-eye and the Red-breasted Parakeet, while we heard the monkeys in the distance. There was mountain biking and horse riding and an open jeep ride to the Ramganga riverside. This is where we had a picnic with another family of four. Their kids enjoyed the river water while we enjoyed the treats packed by the hotel.
All that outdoor activity and running around definitely had our adrenaline pumping, so it only made sense to indulge in the steam and spa therapies offered at the hotel. The jacuzzi and the infinity pool kept us busy in the afternoon. This was promptly followed by a drink at the bar to watch the sun sprinkle the hills with a palate of pinks. For dinner, we did a little bit of everything—a meal at Azrak, a multi-cuisine restaurant, on the first night, and a private meal in the tree house in the night before we left.
Lebua Corbett was an escape from the ordinary. The eco-resort did everything to spoil us. From the spa to the dips in the pool, the delicious food, the friendly staff and the adorable pets and animals on the property, everything added to creating a wonderful holiday amidst nature.
