With comfy accommodations, tasty dining and a range of amenities to rejuvenate the mind and body, The Habitare Hotel is synonymous with excellence.
The best thing about working as a freelancer is the freedom to work from wherever I want. So, I spent the last few months working from a quaint hamlet in Himachal. However, I had two spare days in Gurugram before heading to the Himalayan state, and I decided book an affordable yet luxurious hotel for some pampering. That’s when I came across the delightful blend of opulence and comfort at The Habitare Hotel and booked my stay. All I did in those two memorable days was soak in the unique atmosphere of the place via its grand architecture, delicious food options, comfortable rooms, experiential activities, and more! Join me as I share a firsthand experience of my two-day retreat at The Habitare Hotel.
Habitare gave me a glimpse of their warm hospitality by arranging a free pick-up from the airport, the first of their many complimentary services. The hotel is around 15 km from the airport, in the heart of Gurugram. I was delighted to know that Habitare was in close proximity to all the major attractions in the city. As we reached the hotel, I was welcomed by the sight of a huge building designed in a contemporary style, covered in a contrast of dark and pastel colours. While checking in, I took a look around the reception area and the lobby. The elegant lobby was charmingly adorned with tasteful decor. Even the walls were decorated with colourful artwork and framed photographs, showcasing local landmarks and scenic landscapes. What caught my attention was the art-deco style-meets-contemporary architecture employed by the hotel.
The hotel offers three different categories of rooms namely—Deluxe, Executive and Premium Executive rooms. Since I was feeling a little extravagant, I decided to pamper myself by staying in the most 'pricey' room at Habitare. I checked into my spacious Premium Executive Room and would describe its design and carefully chosen furnishings in a single line—a seamless blend of modern aesthetics and traditional touches. I paid around Rs. 5000 (excluding taxes) per night, for the room. However, the room tariff might vary depending on seasonality and demand. The fluffy king-sized cloud bed, the large wall window capturing the outside world whizzing past, the softness of the beige rug under my feet, a big state-of-the-art lamp hanging atop the study table that housed a coffee-maker, LED TV and a small mini-bar fridge, were the few firsts that immediately caught my attention, setting the tone for what would be a memorable stay. The bathroom was plush with a huge bathtub on one side and a rain shower on the other. I spent half an hour in front of the mirror, admiring the tan on my skin before going in for a long, cool shower. Once done, I stepped out and prepared a hot cup of coffee while devouring the munchies from the free snack bar. Like a happy kid with a full stomach, I got into the cloud bed and went to sleep for a few hours. By the time I woke up, the stars were shining outside my window and I immediately jumped out, got ready and left the room to explore the hotel.
I started my feasting sojourn by visiting the hotel’s multi-cuisine restaurant that offered Chinese, Japanese and Indian dishes. I also got to learn that the hotel's chefs prepare personalised dishes for VIP customers. I couldn’t stop myself from ordering the continental classics and local delicacies, including chole bhature, baked pesto pasta, and noodles with spinach and yoghurt. Yes, I was as hungry as a bear! I topped off my dinner by treating myself to some Japanese cheesecake. Upon satiating my hunger, I stopped by the lobby and inquired about the special services offered to guests. A beautiful lady from Japan was working at the reception area since Habitare hosts many Japanese events and visitors from the country. She informed me that most of the staff also could speak fluent Japanese! She went on to tell me about the sauna bath along with a full-body massage that was part of the special services one can avail of at the hotel. I decided to happily utilise this service, first thing the next morning.
Coming to my spa experience, the full body massage conducted by the skilled hands of my masseuse melted away any tension in my body, leaving me in a state of bliss. Afterwards, the soothing heat of the sauna bath cleansed my body and mind, providing the perfect finale to a stimulating yet rejuvenating day. The staff who had delivered my breakfast earlier had also invited me to join an afternoon pottery session followed by an exclusive lunch buffet. Though my body demanded rest in the cosy bed all day, my spirit wanted to experience and learn new skills. So, I headed out to the little garden area of the hotel where the workshop was to be held. We were a class of 15 students, instructed by a teacher wearing the warmest smile I had ever seen! We soon began to take notes before putting in the practical work, where we moulded and shaped the soft blobs of clay. Even though I could hardly create a potted jar during the 2-hour long workshop, the tactile experience was meditative, allowing me to immerse myself in the process and let my creativity flow freely. After the workshop, I relished a sumptuous buffet lunch that offered a diverse array of dishes, ranging from salmon sushi rolls, takoyaki and miso soup to baked rice with corn curry and tasty dumplings. The combination of hands-on creativity and culinary indulgence made for a truly enriching and satisfying day at The Habitare Hotel.
After resting for a few hours, I headed out to explore the nearby areas, including the vibrant 32nd Avenue and Sector 14 market, purchasing earrings, small lamps, and colourful wall hangings for my home. I grabbed a bite at one of the street food stalls and returned to the hotel. The staff at the reception informed me about a live band performance at Habitare's bar, where I immediately proceeded to. There, I was offered a glass of rich, velvety red wine. The night came alive with the lovely performances by a local band while the audience grooved to their music. I returned to my room and took a long warm bubble bath before calling it a night. I checked-out early the next morning as I had a bus to catch from Kashmere Gate. I thanked the staff for their unmatched hospitality and provided rave reviews for their impeccable service.
From free pick-up, an opulent spa experience and complimentary snacks to pottery workshops, drinking expensive wine and dancing to groovy music, the place was a complete dream. So, if I visit Gurugram for another short stay, I will definitely knock on the doors of The Habitare Hotel again!
