Upon arriving at the Mauritius Airport, I directly headed to Maritim Crystals Beach Hotel Mauritius. With the hotel situated right on the white sandy beach of Palmar/Belle Mare, my first instinct was to head straight for the seaside. While I soaked in the coastal breeze, the hotel staff attended to my luggage. Pinching myself in disbelief, I marvelled at the fact that I had spent only Rs. 1,09,000 (net) for a five-night and six-day package at this luxury hotel. My package included stay in the Superior Sea View Room, all meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner), as well as airport transfers. Note that prices vary with season; be sure to check the hotel's website for details.
After completing the formalities, I took a moment to wander through the tropical gardens, where shady palm trees provided a welcome respite. Soon enough, I reached my room and swiftly unlocked the door to my personal haven. The interiors of the Superior Sea View Room took my breath away. The olive and beige walls, complemented by black wooden lounge chairs and a cane centre table resonated with the tropical ambience. The room was kitted out with all modern amenities, including a smart TV, free WiFi, a mini-bar, and an electronic safe. These spacious rooms sleep up to four people.I drew open the soft white curtains to soak in the scenic coastal views that lay before me. The enchanting Belle Mare coast would be my companion for the six-day stay. As I settled into a comfortable cane chair on the terrace, it struck me that I'd seen sugarcane-themed motifs and accents throughout the hotel. I remembered seeing it on doors, lamps, the bedcover, and even in a mural depicting a sugarcane harvesting scene in the lobby area. Curiosity drove me to grab the bedside booklet to get more information. I discovered that the hotel uses sugarcane as an overarching theme, representing the history and contemporary life of Mauritius. Later, I found that the restaurants were also named after historical sugarcane factories.
In the afternoon, the staff person guided me to the Icery 1869 Bar, where I indulged in a cup of coffee and some pastries while taking in the garden views. Having planned my four-day itinerary in advance, I embarked on my vacation with a relaxed mind. After my coffee break, I strolled briefly by the pool, enjoying the surroundings. As evening descended, the cosy Belle Vue 1838 Bar beckoned me to its loungers by the tranquil shoreline. I let myself unwind, Pina Colada in hand, beholding the sight of the sun setting on the horizon of the Indian Ocean.
My package at Maritim Crystals Beach Hotel also granted me access to Aqualand, the in-house mini-water park. I spent the next day at the park's swimming pools and water slides. For those interested in staying active while enjoying the water, there are Zumba lessons, aqua gym, and water polo. I rounded off my day at the Doddyice Cream Boat and Hut, where I treated myself to exotic flavours of homemade ice cream.
Exploring the Maritime Crystals Beach Hotel's gastronomic delights was a priority during my stay. Whether savouring the tapioca with coconut and pineapple dessert at Les Quatre Cocos 1822 (the Asian restaurant) or relishing the mezze platter at Belle Vue 1838 (the Turkish restaurant), I found pure delight in the culinary offerings prepared by the talented chefs. One afternoon, I decided to explore the local Creole buffet spread at Le Ferney 1650. On another memorable evening, I headed to Villebague 1740, the indoor French restaurant. Its elegant interiors and intricately designed chandeliers lent the place an immaculate aura. The culinary journey was made even more delightful with dishes, such as herbed chicken ballotine and pistachio crème brûlée. If you are a seafood lover, be sure to visit the hotel's Ocean Grill Beach Restaurant, which serves sumptuous seafood and perfectly grilled meats.
Just before my departure, I reached out to Crystals Wellness and Beauty Care to book an appointment for a body massage at the spa garden. The massage worked like a balm on my city-weary nerves. The uninterrupted lagoon views from the massage kiosk enveloped me in a sense of tranquillity. Be aware that if you book a junior suite at the Maritim Crystals Beach Hotel, you can also indulge in full-day tours of the Île aux Cerfs (with speed boat transfers) as well as North and South Mauritius. If I had to sum up my elegant stay at the Maritim Crystals Beach Hotel Mauritius in one word, it would be "blissful." It was difficult to bid farewell to this tropical paradise. However, I sought solace in the fact that I had booked this contemporary luxury hotel for my Mauritian getaway—a decision that truly enhanced my holiday experience.
