A majestic retreat awaits you at Indana Palace Jodhpur—a seamless blend of opulence, grace, and heritage.
As I stepped out of the airport in Jodhpur, I felt a warm breeze across my face, signalling my arrival in the desert state of Rajasthan. I settled in my taxi for the 3 km drive to my hotel—Indana Palace Jodhpur. The hotel is located opposite the Military Officer Quarters on Benayakiya Road, in Shikargarh, Jodhpur (GeoTag: 26.26959847831022, 73.06846935328504). As we pulled into the driveway of the hotel, I paused to admire the splendid edifice, a testament to the royal heritage of Marwar. Built like a haveli, the grand reception of the luxury Indana Palace Jodhpur took my breath away. Its exquisite columns, intricate jaali work, regal arches and domes, as well as its open courtyards transported me to the bygone era of royalty. A small marble fountain adorned with flower petals gurgled softly, instantly putting me in a Zen-like state. Soon, the bellboy arrived to guide me to my room. As I walked through the winding corridors, I noticed sit-outs and spacious lookout points scattered throughout. Each step I took made me feel like I was exploring my own private palace!
I opted for a two-night and three-day stay, which was available at a great value of Rs. 19,536 (net). It included stay in a Premium Room (for up to three adults and a child below six years of age), free WiFi, breakfast and dinner, as well as a 15 per cent discount on food and beverages. For kids above the age of six years, there is an additional charge of Rs. 2,000, and for those over 12 years of age, there is a charge of Rs. 2,500. There is also a package for three days and four nights for Rs. 29,124 (net) with the same set of inclusions. However, if you are travelling between April and September, you can consider booking their "Summer Package", which offers stay in an Executive Room, a 30 per cent discount on spa services, and a 15 per cent discount on food and beverages, in addition to the inclusions mentioned above. You can upgrade to a Premium Room by paying Rs. 500 (plus taxes) per night. Note that all the rooms and suites in Indana Palace Jodhpur have a maximum room occupancy of three adults. The minimum stay is for two nights for single or double occupancy. Remember that all prices are subject to seasonal change; be sure to check the hotel's website.
I was awestruck when I entered my room. The room's walls were decorated with lovely artwork. I stood in the private sit-out, admiring the sweeping views of the Blue City—as Jodhpur is popularly known—and the Meherangarh Fort in the distance. The 400 sq ft Premium Room was kitted out with all the comforts one could need for a holiday—an LED TV, a tea/coffee maker, a fluffy bathrobe and slippers, an iron, a hairdryer, and a safe. The room came with a well-equipped en-suite bathroom. But I was curious to see the other rooms. When I asked the staff for a tour, they graciously complied. I found the Executive Room (from Rs. 5,356 per night) quite spacious too, with a private sit-out and courtyard views. The room was equipped with all the amenities present in the Premium Room.
Indana Palace Jodhpur also offers Suites (from Rs. 23,700 per night). Depending on your requirements, you can opt for a Junior Suite (from Rs. 15,312 per night) or the Presidential Suite (from Rs. 28,062 per night). I noticed creams, rich browns, and gold dominate the colour palette, creating a beautiful fusion of contemporary and classic styles. Gorgeous arches, intricate jharokhas, elegant wood panelling, and ornately carved furniture lent a regal air to these magnificent suites. The hotel tour led me to Lotus Cafe. I was informed that the well-stocked i-Bar could serve up something stronger if I wanted, but I decided to stick to coffee and sandwiches. With a satisfied tummy, I decided to treat myself to the establishment's spa services. I booked myself a foot reflexology session at the Zodiac Spa. The expert masseur worked out all the fatigue from my feet. I left with a smile on my face, bidding adieu to the staff.
The next day, I woke up feeling energised and rejuvenated. I began my day with an early breakfast at Angithi restaurant, where they served an elaborate pan-Indian breakfast spread. I was eager to explore Jodhpur, so I decided to consult with the hotel's travel desk—they offer full and half-day tours of the city. My tour itinerary included a visit to Meherangarh Fort, Umaid Bhavan Palace, Mandore Garden, Jaswant Thada, and Clock Tower. The tour was informative and the services were excellent. However, by the end of the trip, I was too exhausted to go shopping for local handicrafts. Thankfully, my disappointment turned into delight when I found out that the hotel's in-house boutique stocked a wide selection of tie-and-dye sarees, dupattas, dhurries, and other knick-knacks at affordable prices.
Indana Palace Jodhpur is designed to be more than just a temporary abode. It offers an immersive, royal Rajasthani experience that involves the best five-star treatment akin to the that bestowed upon the maharajas of yore. However, what truly stood out was their exceptional service, compared to other luxury hotels in Jodhpur. The staff was friendly, efficient, and considerate. That, to me, is the true definition of luxury.
