Move on From Pawna Lake. Explore Bhivpuri, the New Camping Hot Spot Near Mumbai

Experiencing a fun outdoor weekend at Bhivpuri amidst nature.

Last month, I was looking for a weekend getaway from the hustle and bustle of Mumbai. I had heard a lot about Pawna Lake, but friends told me that it would be quite crowded and commercialised. So, I decided to look up other options. Upon searching on the internet, I decided to explore Bhivpuri, a new hot spot for camping near Mumbai. Bhivpuri is a beautiful tourist spot situated at a distance of approximately 80 km from Mumbai, making it a perfect weekend getaway spot. It is easily accessible via road and railways. The scenic beauty of the place is a treat for nature lovers and adventure enthusiasts. Bhivpuri is surrounded by lush green hills, waterfalls, and streams, making it a perfect destination to escape the hustle and bustle of the city.

One of the most popular activities to do in Bhivpuri is camping. The place offers many camping sites with tents and bonfire facilities. Nestled amidst lush greenery, the campsites offer an unforgettable opportunity to spend a night surrounded by nature's beauty. Visitors can also indulge in adventure sports like trekking, rappelling, and rock climbing in the nearby hills. Another highlight of the town is the Bhivpuri waterfall, which is located a short trek away from the railway station. The waterfall is a stunning sight to behold, especially during the monsoon season when the water gushes down with full flow. Visitors can take a dip in the cool and refreshing waters and enjoy the breathtaking views around them. When I told my friends about Bhivpuri, they were excited about the idea of spending a weekend at a newfound destination that was close to nature.

Our Weekend

We took the local train from Mumbai to Bhivpuri and reached there in less than two hours. First, we headed to Parel Railway Station in Mumbai and after several short stops from Dadar to Neral, we reached our destination. After we reached Bhivpuri station, we took the east side exit and found a shared taxi that dropped us at the location. As we hit the road, we were greeted with beautiful mountains and lush green surroundings. We could already feel the freshness in the air. We had pre-booked our camping site, which was nestled amidst a beautiful forest. The campsite had all the basic amenities, including tents, sleeping bags, and vegetarian food. The best part was that it was just a few meters away from a gushing waterfall.

As we approached Diksal waterfall, we could hear the cascading water from a distance. As we got closer, I could feel the cool mist of the water spraying on my face. The waterfall was a sight to behold. The water gushed down the rocks with immense force and created a stunning display of nature's power. The water sparkled in the sunlight as it hit the rocks and created a colourful rainbow. The surrounding greenery added to the beauty of the waterfall, and I couldn't help but stand there in awe. We decided to get closer to the waterfall and carefully climbed down the rocks. As we approached closer, the water spray intensified, and the sound of the water crashing against the rocks grew louder. The water was so clear that I could see the rocks at the bottom of the pool. We even spotted fish swimming around in the pool! We spent hours at the waterfall, admiring its beauty and taking in the sounds of nature. The peaceful surroundings and the sound of the waterfall had a calming effect on my mind, and I felt refreshed and rejuvenated.

We took a short trek to Garbett Plateau, which offered breathtaking views of the valley below. The hike took about forty minutes. We could see the lush green forests and the winding river that flowed through the valley. It was a truly stunning sight. We also visited a nearby temple, which was dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple was built in the traditional Hindu style, with a large dome and a tall spire. We learned about the local culture from the priest, who told us about the history of the temple and the festivals that are celebrated there. In the evening, we returned to our campsite, where a bonfire was waiting for us. We sat around the bonfire, sipping hot tea and sharing stories. The campsite staff also arranged for some snacks, which we enjoyed thoroughly. As night approached, we retired to our tents, but not before gazing at the starry sky for a while. The soothing sound of the waterfall and the gentle cool breeze lulled us to sleep.

The next morning, we woke up early to catch the sunrise. We trekked to Dasturi Viewpoint, which offered a panoramic view of the entire valley. The sunrise was simply magical, and we captured some beautiful pictures. From here we went ahead to Dodhani Waterfall and enjoyed ourselves for some time. While returning from the waterfall, we had breakfast at a small dhaba that offered Vada Pav and bananas. After breakfast, we decided to indulge in some adventure activities. The campsite staff organised rappelling and zip-lining, which heightened the excitement of our weekend getaway. Climbing up the Guruji Waterfall was a lot of fun. We also took a dip in the pool below, which was a refreshing experience.

Eventually, we had to pack our bags and bid adieu to this beautiful place. We returned to Mumbai feeling rejuvenated and refreshed. Our weekend getaway to Bhivpuri was a perfect escape from the monotony of city life. We enjoyed every moment of our time there, be it trekking, camping, or indulging in adventure activities. If you are looking for a weekend getaway near Mumbai, I highly recommend exploring Bhivpuri, the new hot spot for camping amidst nature.
