World of Christmas @ Jio World Drive, BKC

I decided to go to the centrally located Jio World Drive, which was only a short drive away. I'd heard that it turns into a Winter Wonderland in December. The decorations brought the Christmas spirit to everyone, including our furry friends. There was a delightful mix of never-seen-before brands, flagship stores, rare dining experiences, stand-up shows, busking, and art installations.

As we strolled amidst twinkling fairy lights, I was pleased to see the numerous gifting avenues available. There was no need to look any further to boost the holiday cheer. Kids were having a total blast with their "Unwrap Happiness" surprise, while a joy ride on Hamley’s Polar Express and a Pupper Party were also entertaining options. For the brand-conscious, there was a wide array of premium products to choose from. After our shopping spree, we indulged our taste buds with the tastiest brews and food, with Santa at his grotto! The enthralling performances were a great break from the monotony of daily life.

Dome Christmas Carnival @ Worli

“'Tis the season to be jolly” truly came alive at Mumbai’s largest and most awaited Christmas carnival, held in the largest indoor venues in India. Santa arrived in style to Worli, bearing gifts, games, and exciting surprises for the little ones. We strolled around, taking in the festive atmosphere and decorations. There was a variety of games and fun activities for kids, such as face painting, electronic car rides, ring games, and balloon sculpting. Above all, the magic show had us all captivated.

As we ventured further, the carnival parade welcomed us with great enthusiasm. We then elevated the fun and adventure by bouncing high on the trampoline and trying out the bull rides. I even challenged the heights with some rock climbing and bungee jumping. After all the action, it was time to indulge in some tantalising treats! The cherry on top was posing in the festive-themed photo booths. We sure left the party with happy hearts and unforgettable memories.

Christmas Sail on a Yacht in Mumbai

We wanted to celebrate Christmas differently, so we decided to spend it at the sea! As Mumbaikars, we had a unique opportunity at hand – a 1.5-hour-long cruise on the Merry Sail. The yacht was brightly decorated and we were treated to a festive fare.

As we boarded the yacht, we saw a delightful mix of couples and families eagerly anticipating this sea extravaganza. The gentle lapping of the sea waves, coupled with gorgeous views of the Mumbai skyline revved up our appetite. So, we indulged in delicious Christmas treats while enjoying the balmy breeze and engaging in candid conversations. The festive spirit became even merrier with soulful music and romantic vibes, and we hit the dance floor. The evening ended on a joyful note, amidst the Christmas reds and greens, and the feeling of 'Get, set, sail!'!

Christmas Carnival - The Fun Fiesta @ Mulund

As Christmas approached, we were in full festive mode. So, we headed straight to the Christmas carnival at Dayanand Ground in Mulund West. Here, we immersed ourselves in a world of shopping, tasty food and desserts, and a festive atmosphere. The kids had a blast in the dedicated Kids' Zone, enjoying zip-lining, learning workshops, Imagica parades, bungee jumping, and more. However, it was the planetarium that proved to be an interesting twist to the all-Christmas getup, offering a superb blend of fun and learning.

Of course, the highlight was when Santa Clause appeared, ho-ho-ho-ing and doling out delectable goodies and gifts to well-behaved little ones! We decided to end our sweet outing on a sweeter note by indulging our festive sweet tooth with yummy sweet treats from Santa Town. It was truly a well-deserved Christmas break for us and our loved ones.

Christmas Walk @ Matharpacady village @ Mazgaon

The festive season had me yearning to capture the perfect Christmas shot. So, I decided to embark on a photo walk through the bylanes of Mazgaon. This 200-year-old East Indian village transforms into a winter wonderland, come December. As I walked, I was greeted with a warm welcome from Rudolph and Santa Claus models. The fairy lights and Christmas trees added to the charm of this otherwise non-descript area. It was a refreshing change from the typical Christmas markets. Walking through this age-old settlement was like going back in time – it evoked a sense of nostalgia that no modern-day Christmas market can offer.

The centuries-old aura had me feeling like I was living a slower life, soaking in the serenity of the surroundings. Portuguese-style architecture greeted me at every nook and corner. The community has done a great job of preserving Portuguese culture and traditions, which can be seen in the area's ongoing traditions. I snapped away, capturing the Christmas celebrations with a unique twist close to my heart. If you want to truly immerse yourself in the Portuguese culture, I recommend checking out Lion's Den and the Holy Cross Oratory. You can begin the photo walk at the Mumbai Darbar Hotel and continue through the locality.

Hill Road and Mount Mary Church, Bandra

Finally, to truly experience the essence of a traditional Christmas, I decided to visit the hallmark Christian alleys of Bandra. Although it is a popular shopping destination year-round, it comes alive with trending tinsels and Christmas in December. Climbing up the steps to Mount Mary Church was a soulful experience. The beautiful Christmas hymns and carols made me forget all my worries. I bought a pretty white candle and lit it on the shrine – and yes, I did not forget to make a wish as is Christmas tradition.

Of course, this spiritual journey wouldn't have been complete without some indulgence for my tastebuds. So, I went straight to A1 Bakery and Hearsch Bakery, both being old-time baking experts. Despite their austere exterior, the bakeries are stars in their own right for their plum cakes and apple pies. Their slightly more modern-looking counterpart, American Express Bakery, served up some lovely Hungarian coffee cake and cinnamon rolls. A walk through Bandra's eclectic Christian lanes is sure to leave you craving for more merriment. Be prepared for large enthusiastic Christmas crowds trying to make the most of the holiday spirit!
