Querim Beach is located in the northernmost part of Goa, India. The exact location of this beautiful beach is at Pernem taluka of North Goa district, close to the Maharashtra border. The beach is nestled between the Arabian Sea and the scenic hills of the Western Ghats, offering a picturesque backdrop of both.
You can reach the Querim or Keri beach by either air, train or road:
By Air: The nearest airport is Dabolim Airport in Vasco da Gama, approximately 60-70 kilometers away from Querim Beach. From the airport, you can hire a taxi or use public transport to reach the beach.
By Train: The nearest railway station is Pernem Railway Station, around 15 kilometers away from Querim Beach. From the station, you can hire a taxi or take a local bus to reach the beach.
By Road: Querim Beach is well-connected by road as well. You can drive down or hire a taxi from major cities in Goa like Panaji, Mapusa, or Margao. Alternatively, you can take a bus to Pernem or Arambol and then hire a taxi or auto-rickshaw to reach the beach.
Whilst Goa has tons of beaches to flaunt, there is a special aura around the Querim beach that sets it apart from the crowd. The USP of this place is that it’s not as crowded when compared to the more popular beaches in Goa. You can expect a peaceful retreat away from the hustle and bustle of the main North Goa here. The secluded location and the gorgeous surroundings add to this, making it an ideal spot for relaxation.
That said, the Querim beach is full of natural beauty, with soft golden sands, clear blue skies and lush green trees nearby. The backdrop of the Western Ghats adds to its charm, creating a beautiful setting for those late evening leisurely strolls and sunset gazing.
Lastly, it is probably one of the only beaches in Goa renowned for being the habitat for Olive Ridley turtles. During the nesting season, typically between October and March, visitors have the rare chance to witness these majestic creatures in their natural habitat.
Here are a few popular activities that you can engage in when at the Querim beach- Spending a slow day sunbathing and swimming: You can relax on the soft sands of Querim Beach and soak up the sun while listening to the soothing sounds of the waves crashing against the shore. The Keri beach is relatively cleaner than other beaches in Goa, so you can also take a refreshing dip in the clear waters of the Arabian Sea to cool off from the tropical heat.
If you are a more adventurous soul (like me), Querim Beach offers a range of water sports and activities to choose from. You can spend the day engaging in water sports such as parasailing, jet skiing, banana boat rides and kayaking. The list is huge and there's something for everyone to experience the thrill of the sea.
One off beat activity that you can do at the Querim beach is go Dolphin spotting. The place is known for its abundant dolphin population, especially during the early hours of the morning when they are most active. So, if you want to spot one, keep your eye open for these playful creatures as they frolic in the waves alongside your boat.
For a slower day at the beach, you can also engage in beach yoga. Yes, you heard that correct! You can rejuvenate your mind, body, and soul with a relaxing yoga session on the beach. Many resorts and yoga centers in nearby areas also offer yoga classes overlooking the sea, allowing you to connect with yourself as you spend quality time at the beach.
And of course, what better than spending the day exploring the beautiful surroundings. You may choose to take a leisurely stroll along the beach and navigate through the nearby villages and attractions. Amongst the top attractions, you can find the Portuguese fort of Tiracol, with panoramic views of the Arabian Sea and the surrounding coastline. If you are a history and culture enthusiast like me, you can immerse yourself in the rich cultural heritage of the region by chit-chatting with the locals and sampling delicious Goan cuisine at nearby eateries and beach shacks.

Whilst the Querim or Keri Beach is an ecosystem in itself, the surrounding area is equally sweet. You can find several other tourist destinations and attractions worth exploring nearby.
Tiracol Fort: At the northernmost tip of Goa is the famous Tiracol Fort. Also known as Terekhol Fort, it is a historic landmark that offers breathtaking views of the Arabian Sea and the surrounding landscape. It was built in the 17th century by the Portuguese, and till date the fort has stood the test of time and serves as a testament to Goa's colonial past. You can easily spend the entire day exploring the fort's ramparts, chapel, and museum while learning about its fascinating history and significance.
Arambol Beach: Just 10 kilometers south of Querim Beach is the ever-so-popular Arambol Beach most popular amongst tourists for its bohemian vibe, hippie culture, and vibrant nightlife. The beach is lined with colorful shacks, cafes, and shops selling handmade crafts and jewelry. The beach offers various activities such as paragliding, yoga, and drum circles making it a popular hub amongst tourists from all over the world.
Mandrem Beach: Just a short drive away from Querim Beach lies Mandrem Beach, another idyllic beach beautifully placed along the coastline. The beach is generally less crowded, making it perfect for those seeking solitude and relaxation. You can sunbathe, swim, or simply admire the breathtaking views of the Arabian Sea while sipping on fresh coconut water from one of the beach shacks.
Redi Ganpati Temple: If you are a religious person, then you must pay a visit to the Redi Ganpati Temple, an ancient Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles. The temple is famous for its annual Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations, during which thousands of devotees gather to offer prayers and seek the blessings of the elephant-headed deity.
