I recently had the opportunity to experience a stay at the Mekosha Ayurveda Spasuites Retreat, in Thiruvananthapuram. Mekosha Ayurveda is considered to be one of the best spas in India. I arrived at the retreat in the early afternoon and was escorted to my room, which was a spacious and comfortable suite. After a short rest, I went to my first Ayurvedic consultation. A consultant assessed my health and prescribed a series of treatments that were tailored to meet my individual needs. The following day, I started my treatment, beginning with an Abhyanga massage. The skilled therapist massage used warm sesame oil, and the experience was incredibly relaxing. I felt all of my stress melt away as the therapist worked their magic. After the massage, I went for a Shirodhara treatment. This treatment involves a stream of warm oil being gently poured over the forehead. It felt incredibly calming. By the end of it, I felt I was in a state of pure bliss. Thereon, I continued to partake in the treatments. With each passing day, I felt a noticeable improvement. I slept better, my energy levels improved, and an overall sense of relaxation washed over me. Besides the treatment programme, I also enjoyed other offerings at the retreat, including yoga sessions, swims in the pool, and treatment in the steam room.
A world-renowned yoga retreat, Ananda in the Himalayas, near Rishikesh, is one of the best resorts in India. It offers a variety of programmes, catering to patrons at every level, from beginner to advanced. I arrived at Ananda in the Himalayas early in the morning and was immediately struck by the sheer beauty of the surroundings. The resort is tucked away in a lush green valley, with the snow-capped Himalayas towering in the distance. After refreshing myself, I attended my first yoga class. The class was taught by a highly experienced instructor and I was amazed at how swiftly I was able to unwind and focus on my practice. After the class, I met some of the other guests at Ananda, and we all bonded over our shared love of yoga. Over the next few days, I delighted in a variety of activities, including yoga, meditation, hiking, and spa treatments. I also had the opportunity to explore the local villages where I immersed myself in the history and culture of the region. The crisp mountain air and clear water of the Himalayas helped me detox and rejuvenate.
