Lake Pichola

A romantic early morning boat ride is a great way to start the day. I loved the picturesque skyline of the city from the lake as the sun rose. This freshwater lake is iconic and the city grew around it for centuries. The palace, ancient temples, and the main marketplaces came up after the lake was built in 1362. I could see quaint havelis and island palaces from the boat. Did you know this lake appeared in James Bond's Octopussy (1983)? I recommend a boat ride at sunset to amp up the romance. The one-hour ride will end at the doorstep of the stars, and you can lie back and enjoy the moment. Pre-book a private boat a week in advance to avoid extra costs.

Jiva Spa

It’s now time for some TLC with your bae! Imagine a spa in a floating royal boat. The Jiva Spa boat by the grand Taj Lake Palace mixes the luxury enjoyed by royalty with the best ayurvedic treatment. Royal indulgences at this level are obligatory for couples! Pamper yourselves from head to toe and feel on top of the world. The rates may be on the higher side, but the experience is worth every penny. This hotel also has four exceptional restaurants to choose from after a long day of indulgences.

The City Palace

A Valentine's Day date is incomplete without a spectacular show. Try the one-hour spectacle about the history of Udaipur, hosted at the City Palace. Learn about the kings, queens and sages who lived here. Listen to the beautiful renditions of poetry about the people of Mewar.  Maharana Uday Singh commissioned the construction of the City Palace in 1559. Explore the beautiful courtyards and hanging gardens of the palace. The entry fees are on the higher side for private views. It took me about two hours to complete a tour of the palace. I was in awe of the intricate work in the Blue Room. It is better to visit the palace in the morning to avoid crowds.

Jag Mandir

You can visit the impressive marble monument called the Jag Mandir. The palace is also known as Lake Garden Palace since it looks like it's floating on the lake. The beautiful gardens have many spots for taking excellent pictures. Jagat Singh I started construction of the palace, and it took three Mewar rulers to finish it. The museum on the island holds a record of the Mewar dynasty.  It's better to visit Jag Mandir in the evening, to enjoy time on the idyllic lake, and end the day with a romantic candlelight dinner.

The Fateh Sagar Lake

This is one of the best spots to watch the sensational sunsets of Udaipur. The entire sky changes hues as you have never seen before. Fateh Sagar Lake is one of the more famous lakes in the city and was built by Maharana Jai Singh. Maharana Fateh Singh made additions to it after the 17th century. Rajiv Gandhi Garden will give you the best view of the lake. There are three islands to be explored across the 2.5 km. The Udaipur Solar Observatory is another beautiful choice for a romantic date. In the evening, I strolled by the lakeside and ate ice creams and snacks while soaking in the beauty of the lake. You can also enjoy boat rides with your partner. You can opt for regular boats or speed boats if you feel adventurous.

The Dudh Talai

Dudh Talai means 'the pond of milk'. Sunsets here in the backdrop of the City Palace and Jag Mandir are breathtaking. Two beautiful parks flank the Dudh Talai. Enjoy a relaxing horse or camel ride along the shore with your partner.

Saheliyon Ki Bari

The Courtyard of Ladies is an important place to visit in Udaipur. It was built in the 18th century for the women of the royal family. The intricate fountains in the shapes of birds and lotus flowers are worth exploring with your beloved. The magical fountain changes the intensity of the flow if you clap twice! Close your eyes and listen to the Saavan Bhaado Fountain. You will feel like it is raining! A romantic stroll through this garden is sure to be a memorable one. Do not miss the museum of royal treasures.

Bagore Ki Haveli

Bagore ki Haveli is a beautiful palace on the shores of Lake Pichola. It was built in the 18th century by Amar Chand Badwa, the Prime Minister of Mewar. The palace is now a museum that houses paintings and murals from the Mewar era. The queen's chamber is famed for its glass and mirror figurines of peacocks. Don't miss the Dharohar Dance here. I couldn't believe the sight of a girl dancing skillfully while gracefully balancing earthen pots on her head. You can watch the traditional dance and, if you like, join in for a delightful cultural experience. The dance starts at 7 pm.

Jaiwana Haveli Rooftop Restaurant

The Jaiwana Haveli Rooftop Restaurant is on the east side of Lake Pichola. This place offered a stunning spot to watch the sunset. Enjoy local Mewari dishes with your loved one as you end the day on the most magical note.  I loved their special poha and dal makhani. You can order a thali and share. Alcohol tends to be a bit expensive.

Sheesh Mahal

The Leela Hotel is an excellent luxury dining option. Romance is sure to bloom under the stars and the lights of the palace. Ask for a candlelight dinner to get the mood just right. The decorative mirrors on the walls reflect the light making it even more memorable. I loved the panoramic view of Pichola lake at night from here. The city looked ethereal with all the bright lights. The food is delicious and I especially loved their daal baati churma.

The Crystal Gallery

The next day, go to Crystal Gallery to discover breathtaking crystals. The Crystal Gallery was created in 1877 by Maharana Sajjan Singh.     Various objects can be made from crystal, but can furniture be made of crystal? Imagine sitting on twinkling chairs, tables, chairs and beds made of crystal. You have to see them at the Crystal Gallery to believe it. The serene lakes and opulent palaces make Udaipur a luxurious and romantic place. Simply gazing at the panoramic views with your beloved will fill your heart! The sunrises and sunsets in Udaipur are sure to stay with you forever. Don't forget to take lots of pictures and videos from Udaipur.
