The serene backwaters of Kerala

This beautiful network of canals, lakes, and rivers offers an ideal setting for a leisurely boat trip. Additionally, you can go kayaking, canoeing, or stand-up paddleboarding on these calm waters. The backwaters are a favoured destination among women's travel groups due to the high safety ranking. When my friends and I visited these backwaters, a highlight of our trip was a traditional houseboat ride. Drifting along the serene waterways, surrounded by coconut trees and vibrant birdlife, a sense of tranquillity embraced us. The gentle sway of the boat, accompanied by the refreshing breeze, created the perfect ambience for laughter, storytelling, and to nurture our friendship.

Exploring the narrow canals by kayak provided another memorable experience. Armed with paddles, we ventured into the lesser-known corners of the backwaters, away from the larger tourist boats. We also had the privilege of witnessing the traditional art of coir-making, observing skilled artisans extract fibres from coconut husks and intricately weave them into stunning mats and ropes. It filled us with a profound sense of respect for these age-old techniques that continue to be practised in this part of India.

The thrills of Thar Desert

This expansive desert harbours a diversity of wildlife, including camels, desert foxes, and blackbuck antelopes. Engage in camel safaris, sandboarding, and stargazing to fully immerse yourself in its allure. One of the most exhilarating adventures we experienced was a camel safari. Mounted on camels, we traversed the undulating dunes, feeling the rhythmic sway beneath us. The endless expanse of sand stretching to the horizon set the stage for our surreal adventure. As night fell, we gathered around a bonfire, encircled by traditional Rajasthani musicians who filled the air with melodious tunes. We joined in the revelry, clapping along, immersing ourselves in the vibrant culture of Rajasthan.

Stargazing in the desert was a mesmerising experience. Lying on the cool sand, we gazed up at the shimmering canopy of stars. It was a moment of pure serenity and self-reflection, reminding us of the vastness of the world beyond our everyday lives. We also had the opportunity of visiting a traditional desert village, where warm greetings awaited us from the locals. They shared insights into their way of life and showcased their traditional crafts. We learned the art of turban tying, and even tried block printing. This cultural exchange with the villagers left us with a deep appreciation for their traditions and way of life.

The Western Ghats

This majestic mountain range boasts of thick forests, pristine waterfalls, and abundant wildlife. The region offers plenty of opportunities for trekking, hiking, birdwatching, and whitewater rafting.Experience the adrenaline rush of white water rafting in the Kundalika River, one of Maharashtra's most popular rafting destinations. Located near Kolad in the Raigad district of Maharashtra, it is easily accessible from Mumbai and Pune, making it a popular choice for adventure enthusiasts. Equipped with life jackets and paddles, we embarked on an exhilarating ride along the gushing river. The turbulent waters challenged us, but the feeling of conquering each rapid as a team was incredibly rewarding. There were screams of excitement mingled with laughter as we navigated through the twists and turns, completely drenched in the river.

If your group mates are looking for an aerial adventure, zip-lining is an absolute must. Suspended high above the forest canopy, we soared through the air, embracing the sensation of freedom and adrenaline rush. The breathtaking bird's-eye view of the Western Ghats, with its lush greenery and meandering rivers, left us in awe. Rock climbing and rappelling put our strength and agility to the test as we conquered towering cliffs and descended vertical surfaces. The sense of accomplishment upon reaching the top and then safely descending was unparalleled! After a day filled with adrenaline-pumping activities, we gathered around a bonfire in the evening, sharing stories and laughter. The camaraderie within our group grew stronger as we bonded over the shared experiences of pushing our limits and embracing the spirit of adventure.

An adventure awaits you
