Marine life and beautiful beaches witness a couple come together in new love
I recently married my childhood love, Pragya. While we have taken many trips together, the honeymoon had to be special. As childhood school lovers and adventure junkies, my wife and I had always dreamt of a romantic and thrilling honeymoon. After much research, we decided Maldives is perfect to celebrate our love and embark on an exciting adventure.
We had heard so much about the crystal-clear waters, white sandy beaches, and amazing marine life in the Maldives, and we knew we could indulge our passion for adventure. Many couples choose to stay in one resort during their honeymoon in the Maldives, but the active couple that we are, we decided to stay in multiple resorts to relish all sorts of adventures that the Maldives had to offer.
Without much ado, we booked our tickets to the Maldives and got our visas on arrival.

We arrived in the Maldives and were greeted by the warm sun and stunning scenery. The welcome was the best part of the trip. Our first stop was the Six Senses Laamu in Laamu Atoll. As soon as we arrived at the resort, we knew we made the right decision. Everyone was courteous and helpful. The resort was stunning, with luxurious accommodations and an impressive range of activities for adventure seekers like us. We immediately signed up for their surfing program, eager to ride the best waves in the Maldives.
For two days, we dove and explored the vibrant coral reefs, an array of colourful fish, sharks, and even sea turtles. We also took advantage of the resort's kayaks, paddling around the atoll and admiring the stunning views. We found an entire universe below the waters and thanked each other for the opportunity to come here.
We visited the Soneva Fushi resort in Baa Atoll, known for its eco-friendly approach to tourism. Nature comes first as much as tourists. At Soneva Fushi we continued our adventure, enjoying its eco-friendly approach to tourism. We tried our hand at dolphin spotting and were lucky to see some playful dolphins jumping out of the water. We also went surfing and paddle boarding, soaking up the sun and enjoying the warm breeze. It was a lovely evening burned into good memories.
One of the highlights of our honeymoon was our stay at Kandima Maldives in Dhaalu Atoll. Here, we tried windsurfing, an activity we had never done before but found exhilarating. We raced against each other in the open waters and tried our best to let the other person win. We both won! We also played tennis and football, made new friends, and enjoyed the resort's lively atmosphere.
We spent a day at the Dhigali Maldives resort in Raa Atoll, kayaking around the beautiful lagoon. The clear waters and colourful coral reefs were a sight to behold. We even saw a few dolphins jumping out of the water. Our afternoon siesta turned into an evening nap in the shade of the summer sun.
We visited the Shangri-La Villingili Resort and Spa in Addu Atoll and spent the morning fishing. It was a peaceful and relaxing experience, and Pragya caught a few fish. I had no luck. Thankfully, Pragya was better than me. She managed to catch the best. The cooks prepared the fish for us at the resort's restaurant. In the afternoon, we indulged in spa treatments and enjoyed the special couple massage overlooking the ocean.
We visited the Anantara Dhigu Maldives Resort in South Male Atoll, which offers a surfing program for both beginners and advanced surfers. Since we know surfing well, we took a few advanced lessons and rode waves. It was one of the most exciting experiences of my trip. I can already feel my bucket list shortened by many points.
We had already spent a week in the Maldives. So we wanted to see something new. We visited the Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Kuda Huraa in North Male Atoll and spent the day at their marine discovery centre. We learned about the local marine life and participated in a few interactive exhibits. It was fascinating to learn about the delicate balance of life in the Maldives. A biology lesson like no other!
Our last day in Maldives was spent at the Niyama Private Islands Maldives resort in Dhaalu Atoll. We went snorkelling and saw amazing marine life, including a few sea turtles. In the afternoon, we enjoyed yoga and fitness classes before departing for the airport. We felt closer, like a team. This will not be the last time we would visit Maldives together, part of our marriage vows now. Throughout our honeymoon, we felt like we were living our dream of adventure, experiencing some of the most beautiful scenaries and thrilling activities we had ever encountered. The Maldives had truly been the perfect destination for us, and we returned home feeling renewed, rejuvenated, and deeply in love.
