Experience the most thrilling Valentine's Day in Manali!
Adventure, thrill, romance, and your valentine—if this is what you are looking for this Valentine's Day, head to Manali! It's no wonder it is a favourite getaway spot for adventurous couples. Manali has everything you need. The valleys are beautiful, the surroundings are green, and the rivers are pristine. How about a paragliding picture against its scenic backdrop for your Instagram profile?
In addition to paragliding, there are so many thrilling sports, such as skiing, snowboarding, river rafting, and trekking. If you're into skiing and snowboarding, there are several ski resorts in the area, like Solang Valley, Rohtang Pass, and Gulaba. My partner and I visited Manali during Valentine's Week, and skiing was at the top of our to-do list. We decided to try skiing at the Solang Valley Ski Resort, Manali's most popular ski resort. The ski slopes were amazing—covered in pristine snow and surrounded by majestic mountains! We rented our skiing equipment at the resort, including skis, boots, and ski poles. The rental charges were pretty reasonable, and the staff was very helpful in setting us up with the right gear. Since we were both beginners, we decided to take skiing lessons from a professional. Our instructor was very experienced and taught us the techniques required for skiing. It was a bit challenging at first, but once we got the hang of it, it was an amazing experience! We started on the easier slopes and gradually worked up to the more challenging ones. We felt adrenaline pouring through our veins as we slid down the slopes and made our way through turns and twists. We spent the better part of the day skiing, only stopping to warm up with hot tea and sandwiches. As a couple, we felt incredibly connected while skiing in Manali. We encouraged each other to do our best and cheered each other on as we skied down the slopes. It was a romantic and exciting experience that brought us closer as a couple.
For our next adventure, my partner and I decided to go paragliding in Solang Valley. The location was perfect, with the majestic mountains and clear blue skies setting the scene for the activity. Our paragliding instructor was super friendly and professional, and gave us a thorough safety briefing before we started. During the training session, we learned about the equipment used in paragliding, including the harness, parachute, and helmet. We also received detailed safety guidelines, including take-off, landing, and emergency procedures. Once we were ready, we were strapped into the harness, and the paragliding pilot attached himself to the parachute. Filled with excitement and nervousness, we ran towards the cliff. However, as soon as we were lifted off the ground, all our fears disappeared, and we were overcome with an incredible sense of freedom and exhilaration. As we soared through the air, we were treated to breathtaking views of the beautiful mountains, green valleys, and the winding river below. We felt so alive and free. Overall, the experience was incredible and left us feeling energised and inspired to take on more. To top it off, my partner and I decided to go river rafting in Manali. We were both eager and excited to try this activity and embark on this new adventure together.
We chose to do river rafting on the Beas River, known for its rapids and fast-flowing currents. Our tour guide briefed us on the safety measures and gave us all the necessary equipment, including helmets, life jackets, and paddles. We were filled with excitement and anticipation as we embarked on our river rafting journey. The water was crystal clear, and the surroundings were spectacular. It was like we were on a completely different planet! We had to work together to navigate the rapids and stay afloat. We laughed, screamed, and cheered as we conquered each rapid. The thrill of the sport was unbelievable! The rush of the water, the adrenaline, and the feeling of being in control of our raft was something that we had never experienced before. Overall, river rafting in Manali was an unforgettable adventure that we both enjoyed. This is an experience I would highly recommend for an adventurous and romantic getaway. We could not wait to start our next adventure by exploring the outdoors of Manali by foot.
We love exploring the great outdoors, and trekking in Manali gave us the perfect opportunity to do just that. We walked to the Hampta Pass at 14,100 ft for our last adventure. The trek is known for its stunning views of the Himalayan Mountains, alpine forests, and high-altitude meadows. It took around four to five days to complete the trek, and we were excited to challenge ourselves and experience the raw beauty of Manali. We were excited and nervous as we began our trek. The trail was rugged and challenging, but the views were simply breathtaking. Towering mountains, lush forests, and clear streams surrounded us. The trek was physically demanding, but the thrill of the sport kept us going. We had to navigate the steep inclines and rocky terrain, but the stunning views more than made up for it. We felt alive and energised as we pushed ourselves to complete the trek. As a couple, we developed a strong sense of connection as we tackled the challenges of the trek together. We encouraged each other, shared moments of wonder, and celebrated each milestone as we reached higher altitudes. It was an experience that brought us closer and created memories that we'll cherish for a lifetime. Between all these adventures, we would build up an appetite, and Manali did not disappoint us with its restaurants and cafes.
Even if you're not into extreme sports, Manali is the perfect romantic getaway for couples! There are many cosy cafes and restaurants like Cafe 1947, Johnson's Cafe, Dylan's Toasted and Roasted Coffee House, Lazy Dog Lounge, and Corner House. If you want to make it extra special, some resorts and homestays offer candle-lit dinners, hot tubs, and fireplaces—the perfect way to spend quality time with your partner.
If you're feeling adventurous, there are some incredible waterfalls, one of them being Jogini Falls, to explore. It's just 3.5 km from the town, and the hike to the falls is worth it for the stunning views. You can even plan a picnic with your partner and make it a day trip! Don't forget to check out the local markets for unique handmade souvenirs and traditional handicrafts for great Valentine's Day gifts. Manali is an incredible destination that's beautiful and rich in culture and traditions preserved by ethnic communities like the Kinnauris, Lahaulis, and Spitiis. There are plenty of temples and monasteries to explore, like the famous Hadimba Temple and Manu Temple. You can also visit the Gadhan Thekchhokling Gompa and Himalayan Nyingmapa Gompa for a glimpse of Buddhist culture. Wait, that's not all! Let's talk about the food scene. You've got to taste the traditional Himachali cuisine, which offers a unique blend of spices and flavours. Don't forget to stroll down Mall Road for some delicious street food! Whether you want to go trekking, skiing, or relax and enjoy the stunning scenery, Manali has something for everyone. If you're looking for an unforgettable Valentine's Day getaway, Manali should be on your list!
