India offers many fantastic workcation destinations for exploration. However, not all fit the bill for a workcation since seasonal variations can play spoilsport. For instance, the mountains turn rogue very quickly during monsoons. I always make it a point to keep a tab on the area's climate through Accuweather. Moreover, powercuts and internet blackouts cannot be risked when you're juggling office work. Here are three destinations where I spent amazing workcations:
Researching for locations I was familiar with, that were less noisy yet well-connected, I zeroed in on Naggar in Himachal Pradesh. I stayed at the Tree of Life Eila Art Hotel . The winters call for relaxing on the beautiful beaches of Goa. I have spent many afternoons here, sipping on mojitos, and working to the sound of ocean waves crashing against rocks. My go-to stay in Goa is the C’ Roque Beach Resort, where double occupancies start at around Rs. 3,568. In the rainy season, Northeast India turns into a beautiful green paradise. Its gateway, Guwahati, is an arterial point when it comes to connectivity to the Northeast. Guwahati is also the largest city in the Northeast and a great choice for a workcation spot. Strapped for cash, I chose the Assam Home/Hostel Space Project. Located 11 km from Kamakhya Temple, they provided all amenities including full-day security, an outdoor fireplace, a sun terrace, free WiFi and private parking. Planning your workcation is crucial to its success. My day generally starts with a cup of tea, and sifting through e-mails and calendar appointments for the day. Then, I spend a couple of hours working on high-priority tasks. Most afternoons include a short break to explore nearby attractions and grab lunch. Whether it's attending festivals or exploring seasonal menu items, there's always something to do in the spare hours in between work. To stay on top of work, I prefer using Google Workspace, which is an under-utilised productivity tool. I also use Google Docs, Sheets, Google Calendar and Slides to collaborate with my team to receive real-time updates. Planning and executing tasks diligently will help you make the best of both work and fun.

If you have doubts, you can always carry a portable WiFi device. The recent 5G boom in Naggar, Himachal Pradesh, made blazing-fast speeds accessible at my fingertips. Staying abreast of recent developments can be an absolute game-changer for workcations. An easy resource to check internet speeds across the country is Ookla's interactive satellite views. It's always a good idea to maintain fixed office hours. Make a schedule for your work tasks with realistic deadlines. If something unexpected pops up, carefully weigh in on how it will impact your work. Keep the person you report to aware of your availability. Alternatively, you can also suggest modifications to how work is handled, such as—revising your work hours. Two defining characteristics of a workcation are the freedom and flexibility it gives. I love how workcations break away from usual routines and offer room for spontaneous fun! Once, during my workcation in Goa, I stumbled upon a group of locals playing football on the beach. Even though I wasn't planning to play, I had an exciting impromptu game. Don't be afraid to embrace adventures that come knocking. They add that crucial spark to your workcation!
